He out jabbed a 20st a Mexican who he has a significant reach advantage, whilst standing what, 5 inches higher and 10 inch reach advantage...all the time attending the school of Vladimir?
It seems that you would be negative about Joshua no matter what. Who gives a st about the reach and height advantage? You use your strengths to your advantage, which is what Joshua failed to do the first time. It was hardly Joshua's fault that Ruiz turned up like Butterbean. He out jabbed Ruiz, yes, but he also landed more power punches than Ruiz too.
If that fight doesn't show that AJ can adapt and box a technical fight, then you are deliberately being daft. He has now shown that in addition to being a very powerful puncher that he can actually box. This makes it exciting. Wilder punches harder, but can't box. Fury can't punch, but is a brilliant boxer.
You don't know for sure that Wilder would KO AJ, or that Fury would box his head off. Many years ago no-one thought Fury would beat Wladimir.
Comparing CVs, Fury has struggled against some seriously st opponents, so I genuinely don't understand this "AJ is st, Fury rules" bks.

Why you banging on about Fury?
AJ said he wouldn't make excuses about the loss, but that's exactly what he's done recently.
It’s all he’s done actually AJ said he wouldn't make excuses about the loss, but that's exactly what he's done recently.

Indeed, let's look at number of different top ten ranked opponents beaten:Fury - 2
Klitchsko
Chisora
Wilder - 1
Ortiz
Joshua - 4
Ruiz
Klitchsko
Povetkin
Whyte
So Joshua clearly has the best record, even excluding good wins over opponents such as Takam and Parker who were just outside the top 10 at the time.
I was concerned when I saw Ruiz weight but do not feel it delegitimizes aj win. He boxed to a plan and kept Ruiz at distance, something I did not think he could do regardless of Ruiz shape. Fair play. I am one of those who believes he would barely lay a glove on fury. Too orthodox, too straight up and down, feet, and hands too slow. But, as I said in another post, I have always thought he was second best heavy in the world and he proved it with that performance
Fury vs Wallin wasn't exactly a dazzling display by Fury. If Fury had boxed like AJ did against Ruiz Jr. 2 then it would have been described as a "masterclass" by his fan base. There is quite a lot of overlap between Wilder and Fury fans but I'd say that AJ fans are more partisan. This will only be sorted out when both Fury and Wilder have fought AJ, but I fear that they will all be past their best when that finally happens. Don't forget boxing is a business first, sport second. And I say that as a fan and an active non-professional competitor. Hopefully in the next couple of years I'm proved wrong, ironically the money coming in from the Saudi guys probably makes it more likely to happen now in Nov 2020 or Nov 2021.

The winner of Fury v Wilder will have the better record than AJ, as they have defeated a man at the top and in his prime.

I think you’re right, but my point is that unification isn’t necessarily a good thing for that particular body. If it was then champions would always be fighting each other. Unfortunately that’s not the case. Compared to pretty much every other sport I can think of where champions face champions all the time. It makes sorting out who’s best a ton easier.

I think when you hold another belt you cannot be the challenger for another. Something about a champion cannot be a challenger. Might be totally wrong.
Correct but a Unification bout takes precedence over a mandatory. So for example Pulev is now AJ's mandatory but if AJ was to sign to fight Wilder next then his mandatory would have to wait.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
