Joyce and Dubois are painful to watch in interviews. I feel sorry for both of them as it really is not their cup of tea at all. I think some sports people should be exempt from giving interviews if they are not comfortable doing so.

I watch Dubois chat with people and he seems relaxed and affable but as soon as the camera is on him and the microphone is pushed in his face the poor lad crumbles. Maybe it will come with time or maybe it wont but for chrissakes put the poor guy out of his misery for now.

Joe Joyce reminds me of a comeback (1988-1997) George Foreman. Slow, methodical, lazy but brutally effective punches. Foreman was a character though. Joyce has the personality of a tin of beans.
He got caught an awful lot in the first couple of rounds, he's seemingly got a chin, but it'll make for an interesting first 6 minutes with Dubios!

The Foreman comparison is a good one.

I like Joyce, he is raw, but relentless, heavy handed. I think the comparison with the comebacking Foreman is a poor one as big George was much cuter in his second career, but he has the same traits as young, early Foreman. One plan, one pace, one result. (I often think people forget how crude Foreman was as a young man and how much smarter he was later!!)

He cannot afford to take punches like that against Dubois, who can? But if he gets out of the first quarter of the fight it could be interesting .I think he should have been fighting guys like del boy at this point, learn much more. There is a huge gulf between him and the top guys, not such a gulf from Dubois, but styles make fights. Looking forward to it!!

I have to agree with this, both terrible IMO. Appreciate boxers should be judged on their craft in the ring but their 'promotion' work recently has been funny/cringeworthy to watch. I'm not saying I would be any better but at least the promoters should protect them a bit more.

just watched Joyce v Wallisch

For me Joyce has not improved since early, hes straight up and predictable.
Its always aid, the shot that puts you down is the one you dont see coming, Joyce must have some power as you can see every single shot coming. Hands are slow but he move his hips nicely to transfer weight.

He would be beaten by any of the current british title level fighters, an I'm including dubois, choisora, whyte, not sure I'd fancy him against hughie or allen.

Joyce bangs hard, no doubt about it but he just plods around and as you say not much tangible progress/improvement. I feel Dubois is much more exciting though his defence goes out the window at times.
Different weight class and not British but Vergil Ortiz Jnr who is one of Dela Hoya's stable looks like the real deal..speed and power...exciting times ahead!

I said earlier, i think Joyce v Del boy would be a war. Hughie beats him, but i think he is a level above Allen and although I say this often, I'd love to see big pricey make a noise, I think Joyce rough houses him. Will check out Ortiz jr, thanks.

Agree Joyce v Delboy would be good to watch, 12 round slugfest would be a bonus! Not sure about Joyce's punch resistance yet as he hasn't really fought anyone notable (IMO). Delboy is fairly durable though a big haymaker puts him to bed usually.
Ortiz Jnr is fairly unestablished and young but I think he is starting to get attention now as one for the future.

Joyce is a very hard hitter but as you have stated is there to be hit.

Fabio Wardley and Simon Vallily tonight, can’t see either of them ever getting to world level.

I do know Nathan Bennett has had a fantastic training camp ahead of his match tonight vs Dalton Smith. Smith is the hot favourite but don’t be surprised to see it go the distance,
I think it will be hard for Bennett to win as he will need stoppage which he is not known for.
No doubt the matchroom ref, judges, etc will all be scoring in favour of Smith.

Absolutely cracking fight last night.

Deserved a crowd that one. I am sure Eddie is lining a rematch up for next year.

No judges needed.

Smith Starched him.

There was certainly a lot of heart on display.

How Sky/Matchroom though Cheeseman would ever get to world level is beyond me. He was also slurring his words in the post fight interview as well which is concerning considering he is only 24.

I hadn't seen Smith before but he looks to have quite a lot of talent, as he was throwing some skilfull shots.

Yes Smith was more than a class above Bennett, Smith is arguably fringe world level.
Bennett is very much English/regional level.

Well dome to sky sports, fantastic event considering Covid restrictions. If they lose the fake crowd noise it will be much better.

On a side note, a Frank Warren now gone public asking Eddie Hearn to do a joint BT/Sky card.

I hope it happens purely because of some of the fights talked about, especially Yarde vs Buatsi

Can only assume Frank and BT are finding it tough.

BT cash flow is reported as being ‘restrictive’ aka there is none and they have no free advertising reach beyond their own sports channels nor do they have a 24 sports news channel or UK news channel to push their events.

Tonight’s matchroom show looks awful.

I am a fan of Natasha Jonas, but she is over the hill and approaching retirement and should never be headlining an event.

It goes to show how weak the card is tonight.

Assuming sky made the call to put the rubbish card on the same time as the CL games; no point fighting for viewers when your up against the CL.
