Whyte over 2 stone heavier than Sasha for tonight. Could get a bit salty this one!!
It could be tough for Whyte. Hope he pulls it off, as will ruin his career and Povetkin is on his way to retirement.

I like Povetkin, but is this not a fight between two fighters who have failed more than one drug test? I know that Dillians second more recent one was cleared, but Povetkin just flours the rules as and when he feels like it!! Should be a good scrap and I guess it is potentially a morally level playing field?

Well, pretty much every top level fighter is using drugs in order to be competitive. So to my mind it's fair on that point.

I quite like Povetkin in the role Matchroom are using him for - a honest gatekeeper for top level fighters. It's clear Povetkin is trying to get a couple of last pay days before he retires - and he knows age is against him. But he is still proud and he won't be a walkover for anyone - as Hughie Fury found out.

I personally think Whyte is overrated - yes he has heart and tenacity. And he is a big lump - but against someone like Tyson Fury he would get his head boxed off, just has happened to Chisora. But he should have enough of a stamina advantage in the later rounds to grind out a win over Povetkin.

I just googled, and appears there was no drugs testing for this fight

I had Persoon edging that as well, higher work rate that stopped Katie doing her stuff.

Shocking, no way did she win that. How on earth could any judge give her that by 5

This tweet sums it up for me...."Katie Taylor is losing to an amateur pushing 40 years old."

https://twitter.com/highfieldboxing/status/1297283...

Persoon fights in such a basic, limited way similar to when you see two 14 year olds fighting. Taylor should be able to deal with that via footwork, and pick her off as she comes in, but couldn't.

Brawler vs Boxer - very much depends on what you like.

Funny that - I had Katie easily in front. Throwing loads of punches when 90% miss doesn't score points

I don't enjoy female boxing at all though tbh

Good boxers should be able to pick off the brawler.

I thought the Belgian girl had a narrow win there.

I agree, I wouldn't have an issue if Persoon got the win. It's just that on the night the judges preferred Taylors style. It's always subjective.

It looked a lot closer to the untrained eye (me) obviously. The Belgian girl Looked busy and had incredible stamina. The difference in their faces at the end tells it’s own story. Katie may not have throw as many but hers look liked they landed and counted.

Quality over quantity, Taylor shaded it for me, but it was tight. The 98-93 score was ridiculous. Going into the last round I'd have been happy with a draw.

It is subjective, but let's be honest; we all know the Matchroom hype train has invested a lot into Taylor and they don't want that to be wasted just yet.
