The **BOXING** thread (Vol 3)
Discussion
Ruiz has cut down on the Snickers. Will be interesting to see him fight someone of note.

Is he working with Canello's trainer now?
Yeah he's with Reynoso. He gave an interview recently where he talked about how Canelo calls him when he's late to the gym to get him to come in. Pretty embarrassing really.
I really hope he's being whipped into shape and taking it seriously, but I have my doubts. I'll believe it when I see him on the scales.

I'll take Ruiz and Usyk, what's the odds...?
Ooh that's a great fight. Assuming Ruiz is in similar shape to the first AJ fight I've got Usyk as maybe 70% favourite. Ruiz has fast hands but flat feet so I think Usyk's movement will give him a big advantage. Usyk's also used to dealing with faster hands than your typical HW from being a cruiser. Ruiz wasn't really known for power prior to the AJ fight (a third of his wins went the distance) and Usyk has a fantastic chin so I don't think the chances of a stoppage are really high (though definitely possible). Imo Ruiz looks great for the first 4 rounds of this and Usyk takes control as the fight progresses and his elite stamina will be too much for Ruiz.If Reynoso does work a miracle and gets Ruiz down to maybe 240lbs, all bets are off. 50/50 fight and probably a FOTY contender

Yeah Wilder vs Ruiz is probably my second favourite matchup in the HW division, unification bout aside. Only one I'd like to see more is AJ Vs Usyk.
Can't see either of them taking this unfortunately. Good matchup in fairness but so dangerous for both of them. If they did I'd love to see Wilder prevail, Ruiz Jr can do one for me. Whyte v Ruiz would also be of interest.

I'm holding out hope because Wilder is 35 already and I don't think he's going to be getting himself a title shot anytime soon. If he wants one last big payday then outside of AJ or Fury, Ruiz will net him far, far more than any other fighter. That's a massive fight in the States. Quite true, I just think his pride has gone too far and he'll take a W over anything else. forrestgrump said:

Certainly don't see it happening this year and I imagine if Wilder does make a comeback it'll be against some cans at least to start with. Agree with you his pride will stop him taking on big guys at least for now. He tried to step up from highlight reel KOs against C tier fighters and got embarrassed. I would take Ruiz to beat Wilder and Usyk to beat AJ in all honesty. Wilders one trick is a hell of a trick but he's a one trick pony, AJ maybe has another trick and a half...(little unfair there but I think Usyk is all kinds of wrong for AJ, although he has yet to impress at Heavyweight

Agree with both of those. People are really sleeping on Usyk because of this rubbish about him being too small for heavyweight. Holyfield was able to be competitive with Bowe and Lewis weighing barely 200lbs. Usyk can definitely hold his own in a much weaker division.
