for the avoidance of doubt...if any of you gentlemen are yet to marry and have kids here is my cautionary tale.
in 2003 i was unmarried with no kids. boxing 4 nights a week and able to drink fairly heavily. 11 stone 7lb at that point...nice lean middleweight.
2004 married
2012 to present day... married + 2 kids....train when i can in and around work/kiddie related stuff, drink fairly heavily regardless. 14 stone 7lb....a fking cruiserweight in weight , not stature
now the kids are getting a bit older my goal this year is to drink less, train more....and who knows??...maybe even have another fight!!

so.... if any of you boys want to know what it looks like to be out of training for ages with back injury after back injury with a sprinkling of christmas fat thrown in for good measure...please feel free to ridicule me blowing out of my arse during my first spar back in ages....legs felt like they were made out of lego bricks, handspeed seems to have deserted me somewhat....oh, and its not a trick of the camera , my nose really was that big and red as a result of getting popped on it by a kid who is 22 years my junior

Drinking is like a sport for me, so bring it on!
After a few drinks we'll beat the st out of each other anyway (if you can catch me)
Oh mate if drinking was an Olympic sport I'd be at lomachenko levels of gold medals.... I'm a happy drunk though so you'd probably best me there!!After a few drinks we'll beat the st out of each other anyway (if you can catch me)

by 2013 I'd done my coaching qualification and was in the gym 3-4 times a week eating whatever i wanted at a lean 10st
Work changed, I cant get to the old gym any more, I'm now at about 12st and horrendously unfit.
wedding in 18 months....I will get back to 10st 6!
you have to remember at 14st7 you'd probably trim down to a mere light heavy lol

Yeah, I'm resigned to never hitting middleweight again....that was a LONG time ago....I reckon I could make light heavy if I wasn't working 65 hours a week but I'm hoping that will change this year and If I can put down the tumbler full of gin even better!!....by 2013 I'd done my coaching qualification and was in the gym 3-4 times a week eating whatever i wanted at a lean 10st

Congrats on getting your coaching badge... I'd love to do it but there just aren't enough hours in the day

Anyone see Froch’s reaction to Groves retirement
Yeah he really needs to grow up and get a grip to be honest, he won their fights and should probably let the rivalry die off from there, they don’t have to be best mates but he can manage some professional courtesy to Groves who’s had a tough career and enhanced froch’s Own reputation and bank balance via those two fights. Andre Ward saw it on twitter though and set him straight.
Loved Froch as a fighter but he still seems very bitter over Ward, Groves and Calzaghe.
He’s an awful commentator too, he adds nothing to an event he is covering and it’s obvious he doesn’t know who half the fighters are and makes him look amateurish as you’d think he’d do a bit of background on them before a show.
Mallinaggi completely shows him up from a technical standpoint and a knowledge level too. I do love boxers who are clearly fans and students of the sport themselves though.

So looks like AJ may not have an opponent for April and looks like a fight between him and Miller could be announced next week for later on in the year in America.
Did you read Hearns comments yesterday? He is being played. The other side are all talking to one another. He made an offer to one, had a meeting with another an hour later, and was told about the offer made
What a mess, AJ had 50 million minimum guaranteed with all the A side power in the negotiations, but the winner of a Fury- Wilder rematch will come to the table as an equal.
They will probably use this example in University Courses one day.
