Had my first eagle yesterday.

Caught up with a group in front (I was on my own) and they let me play through off the tee.

Par 5. 505yrds, narrow fairway with bunkers at 260, water all along the left. I usually play this hole safe and take a hybrid to lay up short of the bunkers. A normal drive for me is in the 260-270 region, smack bang on the distance where the bunkers are but with the wind behind I thought I'd have a go with the driver.

Teed it up, 4 pairs of eyes looking on, take the club back and put an extra bit of oomph into it.

Baaaaaaaang! Instantly I knew it was good. I just didn't realise how good it was going to be! It flew the bunkers, landed perfectly on the right hand side speed slot and ran on.

After a few 'lovely drive!' comments I thanked them and walked off down the fairway trying to act as if it was a normal driver for me. It wasnt! Far, far from it!

Finally get to me ball, zap the flag......140yrds left! 365 fking yards drive!

Gap wedge to about 5ft. Putt for eagle. Wave at the players that let me through and walk off to the next tee.

That one hole more than made up for every time someone has let me play through only for me to duff the tee shot.

I bloody love this game at times!

Through the next 3 years of st rounds, awful weather and disastrous cock ups, that one hole will keep you coming back for more!

Bravo!

With the weather my hayfever is really impacting my ability to get out on the course, even with prescription antihistamine.

Played yesterday, well actually, about 40 points so +5 gross, was meant to play again this afternoon but can barely breathe so had to call it off :/

Nice one noodle.

My golf seems to vary from... "fk me this is easy" one hole to... "What the fk am I doing" the next. Hows is that even possible?

Congrats noodle - great feeling & doesn’t half help the card. Managed to get out myself today for the first time in a while +17 gross for 32 points wasn’t the best. But hit a few irons to gimme distance which was nice. Just need to hit the range consistently. Good golf is always round the corner, eh biggrin

Just booked myself in for a little holiday round at Parkstone GC in Poole.

Has anybody here played it? Looks very nice.

Yep we have a club match there, played there a few times. It's a great course, well worth a visit.

Just round the corner from me I was a member there for a few years then moved overseas so left. Back in the UK now and am on the waiting list to rejoin as a full member.

Not sure where you currently play but it was a great course before and is even better now as they have improved many of the tees and green surrounds.

It's quite a short course but very challenging and course knowledge is everything. Unusual layout too with 5 par 3s and 5 par 5s.

The ladies European Amateur championships are being played there in a few weeks so the course is in superb condition.

When are you playing there?

Have been doing not bad with the Titleist blades but feel like it's now time to end the experiment. After trying Cobra FMax Superlites, Ping Gs, various AP Titleists and a few other bits and bobs I got measured up for a set of Benross Evo irons yesterday. They feel amazing off the mat, and my experience with the blades meant that the Evos' relatively small heads wasn't an issue. Just hope I can replicate the simulator stuff on the course! Shop pro (playing off 5) said he'd be a bit worried about playing with my MB 714s, and I'm far from a pro, so that was reassuring.

It should hopefully be new Driver day today smile Been that impressed with the Titleist 917 F3 3 Wood I bought that I got the pro at my club to order me in the same shaft to go into a 917 D3 demo head he has, which should be coming in today. Means I'll have picked up a pretty useful Driver and 3 Wood combo for £100 less than it would have cost me to just buy a TS3 Driver.

Few years ago, I was playing 3 times a week, got my handicap down to 6 and was enjoying life. Had my Taylormade blades for quite a while so bought a complete new set online....delivery in 2 weeks. Three days later, I ripped a disc and was in the most pain I have ever had. CT scan and an MRI confirmed a burst disc. Operation or 3 months flat on my back, was advised to not have the op. Second week in bed....bing bong. delivery...........yep. My new clubs! That was 9 years ago and since then I have played 4 times and in agony for a week after everytime.

my whole life has changed. You learn how to put yours socks/knicks on differently. Pick crap up off the floor, tying up shoelaces. fk picking up heavy stuff. Making sure you dont hurt your back as the above is a pita but going to the crapper a right......

I loved golf. Won a few comps, was a Captain of my society. Played for my Command whilst a serviceman. Played a cpl of Open courses reasonably, (jeez they are long and piggin tight). I might just go for another game sometime whilst the weather is warm to see how it goes, but I just know I'll be paying like an 18 h'capper, if I'm lucky...(not slagging off 18 h'cappers but when you were 6, its a heck of a differance).

Had another MRI last year and fellah says my lower back is disintergrating. Oh and played a LOT of volleyball as well! I'm only 62.
