No... driving range. Felt like a good middled strike, not heavy. Head flew 50yards. biggrin

Straight. 50 yards. Slight fade on the ball. :-)

I am thinking of pulling the shaft out of my 4 iron that I hardly use and putting it in the 7. Cutting it to the right length obviously.

This isn't golf. But it looks like quite good fun.

With no side spin imparted it would make the game bloody easy off the tee.

So....

Played the 2010 yesterday. The experience was awesome. From the pyramids of balls and grass range to being given a pro’s locker. Little touches that helped to make it feel special. Tried to play sensible golf but that quickly went out the window. Scored about 20 points and lost lots of balls! Being brutally honest, the course was amazing and I loved it but it was too much of a test for me at the moment. You’re given a bag tag after which is a lovely finishing touch.

Today I played the Roman Road. Lovely courses, tough but if you hit a bad shot, there is a chance to scramble back to score.

Scored 35 points, 93 gross. 1 lost ball!

Love Celtic manor and I’m actually now a member (championship rather than 2010). Can’t wait to get out more and continue to enjoy what is a splendid course!

I think I might be in love with Hinako Shibuno, check her out here from about 1m45s, such a refreshing contrast to the sour-faced boots normally seen in women's golf.

For a perfect comparison go to 6m40s and look at her miseryguts opponent as Shibuno high-fives everyone on the walk to the next tee.
On a golfing note, have you seen the crazy angle of her left elbow at address??

Agreed, wonderfully naive and exciting.

An absolutely amazing follow-through as well. Creamy smooth.

Anyone got any recommendations on wet weather gear? I haven’t got loads to spend, but wouldn’t mind some decent over trousers and jacket.

Seen a few online but for a named brand your talking over a £100. Should I look away from the golf clothing, and go to a decent outdoor clothing store?

I got some KJUS stuff - somehow found it at sports direct on a clearance! Full pro suit (RRP £700 for £180)

Slightly over budget but definitely worth it

Weekly rollup today, wind feels like it's getting ready for a big blow here in the SW.

Only 3 of us turned up laugh, normally it's 25-30 on the 8.30 start, not a drop of rain and nowhere near as windy as it's been on previous occasions, only one trolley blowover. It was millionaires' golf for the first hour, just us on the course, until a few more braved it.

You tend to get what you pay for with waterproofs. The cheaper stuff is fine for occassional use in light rain but if you're a hardcore golfer who plays in all weather then you need stuff that works.

Galvin Green is pricey but effective and comes with a lifetime guarantee, although I've never had to test how easy it is to get things replaced.

Played in the aforementioned medal

Despite a few days (4), not hitting it particularly close all day (most holes) and missing a few very make-able putts (5) I was standing on the 18th tee at +8 (I’m a 9 handicap), what do I do....after not missing the fairway all day...tug it into the trees and lose the ball, end up with a triple bogey 7....FFS!

Despite my annoyance I’ll now likely be in the buffer, despite most net scores being well into the 80’s and today’s wind somebody came in with a net 65...

Hello I'm quite new to golf and am really enjoying it. I felt like I was making steady progress and now seem to have slipped back. Is this normal or would it mean I'm doing something drastically wrong?

Had a great long weekend's golf - took Thursday off to play in the MidWeek Stableford, went out with the Club Champion (off 6) and another friend off 8, with a Mcikelson style side-bet on the lowest score (they had to buy the beers). Despite some awful luck (drive on the first ended up 2 inches from a tree trunk, clipped an overhanging branch on my tee shot on 15 and ended up chunking a 3 wood 150 yards) I ended up shooting 80 for 37 points, and not having to buy any beers smile

Had a few holes Friday/Saturday, and apart from hitting a 190 yard 8 iron, and birdieing a Par 4 with a 30 mph cross wind, not much to report.

Then Sunday I took on Club Champ again in a Strokeplay comp. No gimmes, and it took some persuasion for him to give me my shots (he's off 6 I'm off 9) - didn't matter, as I finished +7 and he finished +9. So more free beer for me smile

We're playing together at Hawkstone Park next Saturday in the Wem Bowl - both courses in the same day. Anyone played them before? What should I expect?

Thanks. I have been playing more golf this year, and wanting to carry it on in the winter. Realised that the stuff I have now is not suitable. Birthday is in November so will see if the OH will chip in some money towards some decent gear.
