Played yesterday, in summary there were some good signs, 2 birdies but.....

My driver wasn't too great - need to work on that
The course was horrendous, being the flood plain for Lewisham and clay-based it was a bog, with one of the courses closed the one that remains open was heavily traffic'ed and the greens/everywhere was an un-even, squelchy mess
Poor excuse i know, but, I managed about 6 3-putt's....not great!

Off to play at the RAC with a friend next weekend which'll hopefully be a lot better!!!
Good luck! I played the RAC about a month ago (Coronation course), it was pretty squelchy even then I'm afraid. Very lucky with my home course on top of a chalk hill, it's playable all year round.

Well.... apparently our golf course is better than TPC Sawgrass and Whistling Straits, amongst others!

So, after 4 rounds of our winter foursomes series my partner and I have a 5 point lead with 1 round to play.

We won yesterdays round with 34 points (we play off of 10). Our greens are rolling absolutely beautifully at the moment and we both holed some excellent putts (at one point I had holed 7 in a row!). Really enjoy playing at this time of year.

Hi all, can anyone recommend a nice course in Surrey suitable for a 24 hc and 10hc? We usually play at Hersham, Silvermere or Hoebridge but fancy trying somewhere new.

Thank you.

Played a few holes yesterday at the local municipal course. I was waiting for my mate for a while so thought I'd try out a few shots with my new driver.
Hit 8 balls. 7 straight down the fairway, one left into the trees. Lost 6 of them on the fairway! laugh
I'm loving the new m3 driver. Got it for £200 on a black Friday deal. Well chuffed! cloud9

After falling out of love with my Cobra One Lengths a few months back i switched back to them and am back in love with them!

Shot a personal best round of 77 a few weeks back with them.

However, there was one thing in my bag that looked out of place......my hybrid, it was standard length. Not anymore!

The latest purchase is the Cobra One Length hybrid. If you havent tried one of these, even if your a standard length player, i highly recommend that you do. I have never hit a club that's easier to hit than this comical thing.

It is also fantastic for bump and runs and around the green. I even found myself putting with it a few times when i couldnt be bothered to go back to my bag for my putter.

Even though its only 3 days into the new year this could be the best golf purchase i'll make all year.

I currently play JPX 825 Pro irons which have been fine, but have just picked up a set of F7 one length irons from Ebay.

Really want to try the SL concept and these looked good value for the money. Will be interesting to see how they feel.

Any tips going to SL?

Ignore everything that's going through your mind when you first start using the wedges!

A normal swing saw them go the same distance as my standard length clubs but the temptation to slow the swing down was there initially thinking they'd go too far. Just swing them all like you would any other club.

Have you got a sand wedge with your set? That club is brilliant. Play a full shot with that and you might as well go and make a cup of tea while you wait for it to come back down!

Gone for 5-PW and going to stick with my 52 / 56 standard wedges. Depending how the SL goes, but I might look at a utility iron / hybrid to compliment the set.

Currently play Driver, 4 wood and then 2 hybrids or 4 iron. Top end is a bit all over the show so will need to fix that moving forward.

These arrived this morning from Ebay and look in fantastic condition, even the grips look brand new.

Looking forward to getting on the range this week and trying them out.

After all the rain, and a sink hole on the access road, one of our courses is now fully-closed, likely until ~April.

The other is now totally over-trafficked and getting ruined as its still very damp itself. To combat this they've now brought in mats....from which every shot must be hit. Makes the game far, far easier as you don't get penalised by any bad lies! Only issue then becomes putting over what are heavily diseased, lumpy and ruined slow greens.

Hence this weekend I managed to shoot +8, -1 versus my handicap....with 5 3-putts.....
