Anyone else on here volunteering at the World Cup?
Saw the advert last autum and after a mate of mine had such a great time as a gamesmaker at London 2012, thought I'd give it a whirl.
Despite my background in sports media, I ended up grabbing a role in Accreditation at the Bristol venue. Had my training sessions in the spring and completed my first shift last Wednesday. Got three more shifts this week including the matchday at Bristol next Saturday between Afghanistan & Australia. My shift will coincide with the innings of whoever bats first but I'll be finished by the time (hopefully) the Afghans chase down 350 to beat the Aussies!
Nice, sounds like a fun thing to do. Good luckSaw the advert last autum and after a mate of mine had such a great time as a gamesmaker at London 2012, thought I'd give it a whirl.

I will be at one match at least.

I hate losing to the Aussies - even in a nothing on it ODI warm up, on a st wicket without Root or Morgan.
But fair fks to Smith, classy ton.
It was an odd game...really lacked intensity but I actually think it’ll do England more good than a comfortable win would have. Neither team had their first choice bowling line up’s either. But fair fks to Smith, classy ton.
I suspect the welcome Warner and Smith get will have a lot more animosity when it comes to the real thing. Even though it’s at Lords I reckon it’ll be pretty spikey.
I was listening to an interview with a journalist called Geoff Lemon on the TMS podcast today....he’s an Aussie journalist who has written the cricket book of the year about the ball tampering fiasco. “Steve Smith’s Men - Behind Australian Cricket’s Fall”. During the ACB’s “rigorous” investigation into the ball tamperring they interviewed a massive 5 people....Smith, Warner, Bancroft, Lehman and a senior administrator....so no other players. Massive fking sandbagging basically. Cheating s

I also believe that Warner & Smith have got off far too lightly.
Jason Roy looked imperious at the crease today.

He had a great knock. There was an interesting stat on the Sky coverage:
The most destructive opening batsman in ODI (measured by strike rate) is Jonny Bairstow.
The second most destructive batsman is Jason Roy.
Those stats are not for current players but measured against every opening batsman (1,000 run minimum) in the history of ODI cricket.

Yes the one from Saturday “CWC 5 Days to go: Smith’s ton stater Australia to Victory”I also believe that Warner & Smith have got off far too lightly.

Haven’t listened to the Morgan one yet...I see Vaughan is doing the interview....he’s becoming a great pundit/journalist.

Not feeling too confident at all right now. No early wickes and SA are getting to the boundaries seemingly more easily than England were
It's not so bad at the mo. First wicket just gone, Amla already retired hurt, and SA behind on run rate. Early days, but no need to panic yet.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
