Boycott has become a parody of himself these days.
He's reminding me of the last few years of Murray Walker, just babbling on about nothing half of the time.As a Yorkshireman he also has an annoying Yorkshire accent that's accentuated for the sake of non-Yorkshire people. I don't actually know anybody who speaks like him at all.
My gran used to - I think it's coming from too close to Barnsley

Absolutely pathetic.
Let's hear Root's excuses now.

There is a bright part to the day, Warner's second ball duck.
Other than that, Ashes to be deservedly lost. And if the Ashes didn't already exist, somebody in MCC would be firing up a Zippo to create some.

May well be the case but with so much time left in this game our lead needs to be rather large not the usual 250 that is generally assumed to be enough.Far to long to go to call the result but plenty of time for exchange of pleasantries between countries
I am actually genuinely angry. There is a complacency in Root, that annoys the hell out of me. Nasser used to wind me up, but I would take his fight and honesty over Root papering over the cracks.
Roots own form is also to blame here, he has to set the tone, and he just looks beaten.
I don’t know how they come back from this, but they have to sort out the batting line up.

The game is slowly going to the dogs. The easy money in T20 menas that test players no longer need to play club cricket in the off season. Back when I played, I was playing with or against Test players every weekend playing 96 over matches over 2 weekends. The benefit of playing against test players is huge for 16-20 year olds trying to advance up the ranks. That is now lost.
We also played Test match hours (3 x 2 hr sessions starting at 11 am). So if you got selected to play Sheffield Shield, you were already well used to bowling over 3 sessions with a new ball at 80 overs or, if a batsman, having to bat a long time.
That doesnt sound much like international sport that you were banging on about earlier. Can you really compare grade cricket to international sport? We also played Test match hours (3 x 2 hr sessions starting at 11 am). Sheffield Shield is 4 days of 3x2hr sessions each the peak of our interstate comp and where all the international players play and get selected from. The same place are where our short form players must perform to make those top sides

The annoying thing is that England aren't actually that far behind. Of course if they could bat and hadn't already given up (a few players, like Stokes and Leach excepted).
I suppose it's not too bad if you say we scored 500 and the Australians scored 600 in the first innings.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
