Can we ask Kevin Pietersen to stop saving the Rhino for a few weeks and take up the willow again? He's got to be better than half of the so called batsmen in the current England team!!!
No thanks.I'd rather England never won another Ashes in my life time than see that self-absorbed codpiece back.

I am actually genuinely angry. There is a complacency in Root, that annoys the hell out of me. Nasser used to wind me up, but I would take his fight and honesty over Root papering over the cracks.
Roots own form is also to blame here, he has to set the tone, and he just looks beaten.
I don’t know how they come back from this, but they have to sort out the batting line up.
He was given the captaincy too early, and I don't think the set up at the ECB is critical enough (even if it were behind closed doors) to get him to learn. Whether his temperament is right to be a strong leader or not also has to be questioned.Roots own form is also to blame here, he has to set the tone, and he just looks beaten.

The ECB need to be careful - some people just aren't cut out to lead a team...and pushing that onto them can negatively impact their other skills. Especially when things start to go wrong.
The only problem is I'm not sure who should be captain. I think the whole team needs a damn good shake. It's not as good as it thinks it is and believes its own press way too often.
Vaughan and a few others need to throw a few pelters at the side as they have done before. Cut all mention of decent Australian bowling and slam the team hard with double for the captain.
I can't even find it in me to let them off the hook because they had a tough world cup and this series was too close to that...I can't because I am 100% sure that if Australia had won the WC, they would be battering us even harder now!
I noted before that I don't think the Aussie team is all that other than Smith. I still think that's the case. We are just worse. And the Aussies seem to be a better team unit.

I think Australia have prepared for the Ashes much more than we have. As Mark Wood pointed out earlier on TMS, they have researched who they're bowling against, and have set fielding positions for each batsman. The bowlers are ultra consistent, they've even dropped Starc (of all people) because he doesn't have the accuracy of ball placement that Hazlewood for example brings. England turned up for the first Test with one untested opener, one unfit bowler and a spinner who lacked confidence. Yes we had few options, except in regard to Anderson who should have played in the Ireland Test, but this really knackered us in a game we really should have gone on to win.
It has been great winning the World Cup (if only to shut up people who always bring up that we've never won it), but it is a shame that success seems to have come at the expense of having a substandard Test setup.

Leach now leaking a bit.
I think Moeen would have bowled well on this...
Best spin delivery I have seen this Ashes was part-timer Denly's first delivery at Lords. So much movement off that one Warne would have been proud of it.I think Moeen would have bowled well on this...
Couldn't really have gone much worse for England today.

That's Archer broken down. Overbowled.

Indeed its not like Root wasn’t warned either. Hopefully its just cramp. Couldn't really have gone much worse for England today.
So frustrating to be in this situation, should have been batting all day and grinding them down. Now we have lost the match and the ashes and really I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost the next two games.
Dangerous having a coach who has announced they are quitting. Feels like he has let the players stay in the roles when we needed change (Pope for Denly) Curran for Leach etc Roy out of the opener role.

Sheffield Shield is 4 days of 3x2hr sessions each the peak of our interstate comp and where all the international players play and get selected from.
The same place are where our short form players must perform to make those top sides
Yep I know and not what I was on about. The poster was referencing weekend grade cricket The same place are where our short form players must perform to make those top sides
England just can’t bat in a test match. Full stop.
People say cricket is boring, then they don’t understand test match cricket. It’s not about trying to hit every ball for 6, it’s a long game, going at 2 runs an over is perfectly acceptable in a test match, by all means punish the bad ball but take your time, you’ve got loads of it!
This current crop of players want to play ODI style in a test match and it simply won’t work.

Going into this test Aussies were on the ropes because Smith had scored 37% of all Australian runs so far.
So they brought in Labuschagne
He saved the last test and in this test scored more than the entire England team in the first innings of this match.
Well time for the England bowlers to man up on this good batting wicket.

They still can't get Concussion Boy out !
Bloody South Africans! He must have an Irish Grandma surely so he can open for us?
Slightly seriously for a moment.
Most people would, sensibly, say that Stokes is a better batter than Labuschagne.
But the latter has played very well as a test match cricketer for more than one innings now and one person today played one of the worst shots I have seen in the last 10 years. Forget Roy, that Stokes shot was utterly shocking.
Every time I watch it on replay my sperm count goes down. Same for my wife.
