Slightly off topic, didn't realise until now just how much delay there is on TMS transmission over internet versus broadcast. Not quite sure if it's always as much as this, but just nipped into Tesco on way home. Whilst parking and listening on DAB, Aggers was wittering in about selling a flat in his bachelor days. Started listening on phone, quickly went into store, picked up some mayonnaise, a requested magazine for 'er indoors, to coin a phrase, and as walking to till Aggers started wittering about his flat sale. Always thought delays were limited to just a few seconds.

Apparently not.
He did witter for a target long time mind you. You may have just caught different bits of the wittering!
No, it was definitely the same bit, played them together when got back to the car, nearly two minutes delay at a guess, latter not measured accurately.

is Boycott still commentating anywhere?- he must be having a heart attack

Will always remember him saying that you have to get the batsmen to play on every ball, which is so true

Just caught news of this calamity on the radio driving home from the workshop - normally I assume my listening is the kiss of death but having watched the world cup final live I might try and get it on the radio tomorrow.

What a shambles frown

Well they aren’t getting too far ahead

Let’s hope the collapse today was just down to poor prep and we will be back strong in the second.

Some decent bowling too

So do we want to bowl them out today and face the prospect of some of our batters being out twice in one day, or 'tactically' let them hold on until the morning?

They're only playing with themselves. You could say their bowlers are doing very well.

That's a bit harsh, accusing them of being a set of w*nkers. smile

Can we call up Tim Murtagh for the Ashes? He's English, and even played for England U19. We might need an extra bowler with Anderson, Wood and Archer all have injury worries.

With a name like Murph shouldn't you be supporting the other lot?

Well didn't expect Leach to be still there at midday, and with 38 runs to his tally. rofl

Always funny when the NW makes more than the opener...

Could find himself promoted permanently if he goes on. I bet every run from Leach is getting right up the Irish noses

Seem to have our st in one sock today. Much better so far.

I'm following it on TMS. Apparently Leach had to ask the umpire to clean the condensation off his glasses at one point. He is what England have been missing of late, a truly geeky looking bloke with leet cricket skills.

stolen from the BBC

Leach is the first player to score 50 for England whilst wearing glasses since Paul Allott in 1981

he is the second player to bat at number 11 and then open the batting on the same day- first was Harry Butt, for England in 1896

I love a batting underdog, like Ashton Agar's amazing knock in the 2013 Ashes series. Or Monty Panesar and Jimmy Anderson at Cardiff in 2009.

Good recovery by England. Scores are level at lunch, so in effect they are now starting the second innings at 0-1. I would now expect England to take control as the Irish bowlers suffer in the heat.
