That dropped catch by Roy. Add that to the lost ten overs this morning.

Can't we play Archer in poor light if he promises not to pitch it up?

Too late really. It'll end in a draw.

And tbh, that feels about right in the circumstances (not that I would say no to a win for England!).

Hopefully Smith is fit for the next test. Victories with him out of it will be very slightly hollow (much as I despise his cheating and think anyone caught cheating should be out for good).

I wouldn't say that, given that we're also without our best bowler. I know circumstances are different, but the outcome is the same.

Although Archer has been a bit of a menace!

Why didn't they finish the over? Could have been run out off a no ball couldn't they?

There would not have been time to get the next batsman in

Pretty confident they wouldn’t have been taking even easy singles by that point.

They would complete the over that they'd started wouldn't they? Otherwise they might have well not bowled the last few overs at all as there needed to be time for 4 batsman chanfes.

It's the circumstances for me.

We haven't had an answer for Smith thus far. As much as the Aussies have some good bowlers, Smith is THE difference between the two teams to the point I think England would be up in this series without him.

I don't like what I see as leniency to sporting cheats...but to put that to bed England need to find a proper answer to him. Which will be difficult as he's an immense batsman.

(I love JimmyA...but his continued input at this level has been doubtful for a season at least...Archer's shaping up to a be a good successor though).

But there was no point with only three balls left and four wickets required. The most we could have got them was 9-down at that point, with no time for another over.

Oh dear Australia’s new batting find isn’t; a pure bred Aussie....born and raised in South Africa.

Said before this test it would end a draw due to weather cutting play, but when we were 175 in front with a few hours left I had a bit of hope. The main thing is we didn't lose, onto the next test in 4 days time.

I'm not entirely sure any national team is squeaky on that front....

England have rather a long line of foreign players in the side.

Absolutely. Unfortunately some of the Australian supporting PH members don’t like the idea of anyone playing for their country who wasn’t born and raised there...and are pretty vociferous about someone like Archer playing for England.

That saffer Lasagne is doing well.
Came to Australia as a 10 yr old, not quite the same as changing sides as a fully formed player with international experience.

But hey ho thems the rules to be exploited by them that will

Hopefully Smith is fit to continue in the next test and maybe Starc in for Siddle and Harris in for Bancroft.

Hostile banter to resume on Thursday biggrin
