Not great as an England fan, but really is a force of nature. He was the difference that won the series for the Aussies.
(Disclosure: Yorkshire man in Ireland/Eire) Met an Aussie in the pub last night, thoroughly decent fella, bit older and wiser than me.
He agreed that Smith has won this series for the Aussies, and said that with out the weather it really should be a slam dunk 5-0.
He did agree that it's been a pretty disappointing batting performance from both sides.
It's still been a thoroughly entertaining series though, and I love the highs and lows of an Ashes series more than who wins.
The memories of me and my son on the edge of the sofa watching Stokes in Headingly can never be forgotten - it's rare that sport can provide such entertainment. I'm sure he'll remember it and hopefully share it with his kids - "I remember watching this live with your Granddad (RIP) when I was a child..." type of stuff.
Reminded me of the 1998 Atherton/Donald confrontation, for some reason I can remember exactly where I was (at home in Kentish Town), exactly what I was working on (some software for CISCO routers) and being riveted to the screen (think it was an ex Radio Rentals TV) for every ball.
Hi, my name is JALS and I love cricket me. posted before

West Riding, in exile but still got a foot in North Yorkshire, by the harbour, Whitby.
Wonderful! I can remember childhood holidays in Whitby and Scarborough. I'm a Wetherby/Harrogate lad exiled in Eire at the moment, it's not bad at all but it's not Yorkshire, and they really don't 'get' cricket over here.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
