It doesn't seem like we a dedicated rugby world thread so rather than clog up the standard thread I thought a new one might be a good idea....

Good stuff , was just about to start one. For me if had to put money on a team it would be the Springboks, ABs as close second, really think England have a chance though but only if we keep the key players fit.
I don't think Wales have more than an outside chance and an injury to AWJ or Bigger would scupper any chance, on that note I'm a massive fan of Fiji and think they will pose a serious challenge in their group.
Will be really interested to see what happens to Ireland as Schmidt is world class and has some class in his squad , a lot will depend on sextons form.
For anyone interested cannot recommend highly enough the Squidge Rugby channel on Youtube, brilliant content , insight and humour all the more impressive as he's a one man band, has a video on each RWC team as well.

Looking forward to this one, shame the time differences will make it hard to watch all of the games live. Feels like a really open comp and could realistically see any of several teams winning this year but would love England to get it a second time.

Not sad at all.

Me and my mates are trying to align all of our business trips to be in Japan at the same time.

I wish I moved in such exalted circumstances. Tea and toast in front of the telly for me.

We've just drawn the office sweep - I got Argentina so don't think I'll be quids in. More chance than the guy behind me who got Namibia though biggrin

Argentina have been in the same number of RWC semi-finals as Scotland, Ireland and Wales combined. Could be worse.

For those who maybe don't venture into the General Rugby thread, you may not know we've got a PH Fantasy World Cup league running on Superbru...

https://www.superbru.com/worldcup_fantasy/pool.php...

or by downloading the Superbru app and searching for the pool with code:

Decent selections. I'll go:

Winner - New Zealand
Player of the Tournament - Pieter Steph Du Toit
Top Try Scorer - Sevu Reece
Top Points Scorer - Handre Pollard
Tier 2 Player of the Tournament - Yu Tamura
Tier 2 to advance the furthest in the tournament - Japan

I'm self employed and semi retired so with luck I won't miss a game.
Hope this helps.
