The Irish seemed to give up trying once they got the BP. Their defence was superb though.

Disappointed that Ireland didn’t score a lot more against this poor Scottish side. Goal kicking very poor today, especially in the first half.

The weather played a part; how significant this was is open to argument. The Scots seemed to get themselves together in the second half and put in some strong phases, but the Irish defence was equal to it. Certainly an excellent game for the Irish forwards.

An interesting match rather than a thriller for me.

Good to see we've got some of the good commentary / punditry teams from BT on this one; Mullins, Monye and Kay.

If nothing else comes of this RWC, it's that at no point will I have to turn the volume down whilst Eddie Butler dribbles on.

....and what are your thoughts on Townsend's gameplan Vern?

Game plan is part of it but the players were not at nearly 100%. It was predictable Ireland would target Hogg and Russell, but nothing was done to counter that.
Fair play to Ireland though - solid performance.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling..........

Too much panic, poor organisation, too little structure, struggling to control the ball and pace of the game.....

Hope we get on top of this soon.

edit: oh, and too many penalties given away already.

Can anyone see Ben Tameifuna playing all 80 minutes?

Feeling a bit better now?

England playing a patient game. They are not as sharp as they might be but two tries in 30 mins is within the plan I should imaging.

All we're after is a win with a BP.

A little, but still not yet getting the sense that there's an actual plan, whereas Ireland set out with a plan against Scotland, and I never felt the result was in doubt after 10 minutes of that game.

I think England are being very patient. Tonga are a good, physical team and England are very balanced about their play at the moment. Tonga will tire as the play goes on.

I think that's unfortunate with Watson stumbling, and a good decision from the ref.

I agree. Ref has been excellent.

I agree with that. It was deliberate, in the sense that he meant to hurt, but it was not meant as a high tackle.

It's not as if it was a swigning arm, where there is little excuse.

Tuilagi could have walked for that flying tackle earlier on the nearside wing... wink
