Will Stokes be out for a ban?

Bit of a slip on the veneer of respectability. This is why Stokes can’t ever be captain.

I get it, just out, fiercely competitive, dhead guy in the crowd..

But still, don’t go and offer them a fight, just ask them how many test match hundreds they have.

I doubt we will see much of Ollie Pope at the oval next season. He looks a player doesn't he .

He's still a simmering volcano waiting to explode .

Whilst we're showing some signs of progress, we really need to get into the groove of playing boring cricket until we know how to avoid crashing

This wicket is definitely getting quicker & offering more to the bowler as time goes by.

Will be interesting to see wood at full pump on this wicket.

50 Partnership in five overs.... too funny.

Usually a few hits makes Broad bowl a yard quicker too.

they won’t get 400 though.

What does make a pleasant change is that the scorecard only has two England bats with single figure score, Stokes 2, Curran golden 0, everyone else slightly better. OK you can argue that next lowest scorer, Buttler should have got more than 20, likewise Denly with 27 and so on. But it makes a change from sering a dismal list of single figure scores with only one having a decent knock. If one or two had managed a ton, we'd be well on top.

Wicket in first full over..

Same question as last weekend likely, enforce follow on or bat again?
I say enforce, no real point in batting again when we are bowling well

Seconded. Though that means we've now jinxed it, 150 and several hours of toil for the last wicket or something.

The pitch here is supposed to get quicker through, also couple of sessions throwing the bat gives the bowlers a break. There’s no reason to enforce the follow on that I can see...unless there is a grim weather forecast.

They won't want to be batting on the last day if the Saffers manage to get a bit of a lead over two innings. There's plenty of time left for them to end this innings with a healthy lead, smash another couple of hundred on top, and then have 4-5 sessions to bowl them out again.

This is the part of the game I'd like to see England work on, how to proceed when the wicket isn't offering you anything. Teams like Australia are much better at grinding out days in the field with a flat wicket.

Good wicket by Lord Stokes!

Mark wood is rapid. Beauty to get rid of De Kock.
