113 says this - https://course.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/course/course...
OK, so I think that 113 is the average difficulty. 55 is the easiest and 155 the hardest. We have 2 courses at our club, One is rated at 116 and the other 126. So I play off 10 on one course and 11 on the other!

Yes - think that was just a placeholder on the website as I checked a number of the local ones on there and its say 113 for all of them....I think its going to be a bit higher - our scorecard SS is +3 versus par and competitions are normally +4-+5 versus par.
Sounds similar to ours. Our par is 68, Course Rating 71 and bogey rating 92.5.
As you say you're normally in with a shout of winning at around +3.
A pitching wedge in a proper loft is normally around 46 degrees.
Personally I'd go 46, 50, 54 (and possibly a 58 if you like). Which is exactly what I've got!
A 52 degree wedge always seem a strange fit to me, unless you have extremely weak lofted clubs with as you say a 48 degree wedge?

My new handicap index has dropped from 10.2 when i looked last week to 9.4 without any new rounds being added to my scores. Not sure what has caused that drop, assuming it is just an error that will be corrected come Monday
I imagine it will change again come Monday. As far as I can tell no new scores have been added since September.
It will be very interesting to see what happens after this weekend!

I'm in two thoughts on this 4 week ban.
Some of the reasons I'm not seeing it as an issue;
1. We've got very little window to play anyway and it will be raining/freezing on one of the weekends anyway.
2. Masters will be on for one of the weekends
3. My course is usually a bomb site with work being done in Nov/Dec
4. Just had a baby so we can spend some time together
5. I can smash the gym and speed training
It's if this ban goes into beyond 4 weeks im worried. Its going to put swing work back for a while and also 'm spending a lot of money at a greedy top 100 club where they give very little back.

So, finally I find my swing again after holiday, self quarantine and injury woes are over and Lockdown 2 occurs.
Bloody typical.
I have to say I'm over the moon with my new Mizuno clubs.
ST200G driver - the thing is the most dependable driver I've ever had. Utterly reliable. And long.
ST200 fairway wood - not a club I hit that often truth be told but on the handful of occasions I've used it since having it I've flushed it.
MP20 MMC irons - really starting to get these things working now. Hit quite a few real stand out shots yesterday and they felt superb.
T20 wedges - probably the first thing I gelled with, lovely feel and very confident with them.
Which leaves the only outstanding clubs in my bag that I haven't changed - a Ping G 19 degree hybrid and my putter.
I'm hitting the hybrid quite well to be honest but I can tell the difference between the standard stiff shaft in that and my new clubs (which are all much stiffer and heavier). The question is hybrid or utility iron......
And the putter. My trusty old Snake Eyes blade that I've had for 7 years. Pretty reliable truth be told, the only thing buggering up my putting at the moment is my pace control.

You find the ST200G goes straight? Any tendency to leak right? Still trying to decide on which 200 to get. May end up waiting to see what the 2021 STZ reviews say, indecision!
Very straight compared to my old G30. But I'm pretty convinced that is mainly because of the shaft (I'm now in an extra stiff 70g). It does look fairly open at address though so you may not like that?Challo said:
Might be a stupid question, but surely any club can be straight if you hit it correctly? I know clubs are more forgiving, but its the person swinging the thing that determines if its straight or not.
Maybe im missing some technical points but it seems simple to me.
I think you're missing the point.Maybe im missing some technical points but it seems simple to me.
Once you have a reasonable swing, the idea is to get a driver that works with it, rather than change your swing to work with the driver.
Obviously if you've got a horrible swing and hit massive slices or hooks then no club will help.
But my swing hasn't changed between my old Ping G30 and my new Mizuno ST200. However, I've been fitted for it and I have the correct shaft and set up for how I deliver the club face to the ball. The results are much straighter drives and poor swings are not penalised as much.
I suppose you could argue that I could have got my Ping G30 fitted, put a new shaft in, etc. But it's 5 or 6 year old design and technology. Plus the Mizuno was great value compared to the big driver brands.

I haven't, and I wont, be going to the golf course. For no other reason than I don't want to bring our wonderful game (and my great club) into any kind of disrepute.
It's only 4 weeks, I'm sure I can manage. Also gives me time to finish off some DIY projects!
Now.... Masters week. Will be interesting to see how the course plays. Looking forward to it.

I agree, so many classic courses are redundant now. And the modern course are huge and take mindblowing sums of money to maintain.
I want to see players hitting 3, 4 and 5 irons into par 4's, not wedges and 9 irons. Real skill. It shouldn't all be about ball speed, swing speed and carry distance.

Whatever we think about Reed you can't argue with his short game. Three chips into the hole in one round has got to be some kind of record.
I was Reed-esque on Saturday, with no less than 7 very good up and downs (1 from a bunker). No hole-outs though unfortunately! Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
