Thanks for the watch suggestions. I don't have an iPhone so the apple watch is out.
I'm leaning towards a Garmin of some description. I've found a refurbished S60 on eBay which is tempting me. But the battery life doesn't look great if using it as a normal watch.
I'll have to find somewhere to have a look at them to see how they are for size.

Any good recommendations on drivers sub £200? Game has been improving, and got a good bonus from work this year so wanted to treat myself.
Currently using a Mizuno MX700 driver from 2009 which while in great condition, would be nice to upgrade.
Not a huge fan of TM, Callaway or Titleist products, plus they always seem to hold prices really well. Wondering about something from Cleveland, Srixon, Mizuno to get a new driver, at a good price.

I know you said you aren't a fan, but imo the taylormade m2 still remains one of the best drivers ever to be made and can pick them up for under 200Currently using a Mizuno MX700 driver from 2009 which while in great condition, would be nice to upgrade.

Most of the Cleveland drivers of recent 4/5 years all perform pretty well and are cheap compared to the "premium" brands. The Launcher or HB are particularly easy to hit clubs and are around or at your budget secondhand.
Be aware though that in my experience the Cleveland models all have a tendency to launch very high and some are geared more for the medium to slower swing speeds so if you're lucky enough to still power the club through with real pace you may want to look elsewhere. Just my opinion of course!
Also the Cobra drivers are good value second hand as they bring out new models really frequently. A good condition F8 or F9 will easily be under your £200 budget and they are multi adjustable in most cases.
I managed to find an ex-demo TM M3 driver and have been very happy with that but I must admit having tried the M6 since I think it is a more solid hit but right now I'll stay with the M3 until next spring time I reckon.
Take a punt on something and if you don't get on with it, flog it! I've bought used and sold on a Nike 3 wood, a Lynx 2-iron and an old Bullseye putter (to a collector!) in my time and not lost much on any of them.
Take a chance mate (unless of course you're hung up on warranty etc).

Cheers for all the recommendations. As of this afternoon I’m a new owner of a 2015 Callaway XR Driver. My friend had popped into the local American Golf, and someone had traded it in against a newer driver. He has sent me a few pics and it looks in very good condition, and a decent shaft as well.
I wasn’t looking for a Callaway, but both my playing partners have this driver and I can hit it pretty well.
The good thing is that it only cost £79 which is a bit of a steal. If it goes wrong I can flog on eBay for the same as I paid for it.

IMO the shaft is 90% of a modern driver. If it’s right for you, the club’ll work fine.
If it’s not, then it doesn’t matter if the head is £30 from Sports Direct or £30,000 from NASA.
Agree but the head ideally needs to be adjustable. If it’s not, then it doesn’t matter if the head is £30 from Sports Direct or £30,000 from NASA.
I only buy a model that is minus one version as its money for old rope, look at SIM and SIM2.
Although this trend has changed now and pricing seems to be creeping up.
Have a look at what a driver head is inside and you are paying for thin air mostly.

Going to use the next few weeks at the range to have a practise

Rebook in a tier two area...?
Definitely on the cards If they do close themIndoor gyms and sports facilities will close. Outdoor sports courts, outdoor gyms, golf courses, outdoor swimming pools, archery/driving/shooting ranges, riding centres and playgrounds can remain open for individual exercise, and for people to use with others within your household, support bubble, or with one person from another household. Organised outdoor sport for under 18s and disabled people will be allowed.

302yrd 8 iron!
Time to use some of my bonus to treat myself to some new clubs I think. I'm an irregular player at the minute but hoping to play more. High handicap and an awful slice with the woods
I am looking for a set of irons in the first instance with a view to looking at woods (and lessons) in the New Year
Anybody any experience of the Wilson Launch Pad irons as they say they're very forgiving. Alternatively any other suggestions around the £500-£600 mark for a set. Any idea why the sets tend to start at a 5 iron? I tend to hit my 3 and 4 iron pretty regularly off the tee as I am so wayward with the woods

Long irons have been largely killed-off by more expensive hybrids. (cynical, moi?)
Worth trying some though, they're more forgiving than long irons. (be aware that on a range mat you'll get a deceptively good impression, as you can really smack them carelessly into the ground without too much problem - that's not the case on wet turf.)
As for your irons, my usual recommendation of Mizuno or Ping. Getting fitted for the right shafts, grips, and lie, will make more difference than anything else though.

Many of the modern day 5 irons now have the loft of a 3 iron from a few years ago. I am looking for a set of irons in the first instance with a view to looking at woods (and lessons) in the New Year

My current irons have relatively traditional lofts (35deg 7 iron). A few weeks back i hit some stronger lofted irons (7 irons in the range of 28-30deg) and after seeing just how much easier they were to hit and how much distance I was getting, I am very tempted to make the switch in the new year.
