I'd like something like that to replace my old TomTom that was 'software upgraded' into an early grave by the company. Unfortunately the GPS reception at my new club is practically non-existent so smartwatches and phone apps like Hole 19 and GolfPad don't work. It looks like it'll be a laser rangefinder for me, which I'm kind of happy about because I've been wondering about one for a while now anyway. Can anybody recommend a good one? I know there are dozens of Asian ones on the market, and many of them seem like good value, but I'm extremely sceptical about the 'reviews' on Amazon that don't seem to bear up to much scrutiny. I've seen a lot of positive reviews for the more expensive Bushnell ones too but wonder if folk are justifying their purchases a bit. Had one of those little Bushnell Phantom things last year which was utterly hopeless so am slightly biased against this firm.
I went for the Nikon Coolshot 20 a couple of years ago, and for the price (£150) I'm struggling to find anything particularly wrong with it. My only criticism would be that it's a bit light, but I gave it the wedge treatment and attached some lead tape to the side. Looks like it's been replaced by the G2 now, think it's the same model with slightly longer range:

Battery lasts for ages, doesn;t need a particularly big pocket to store it, and under 200 yards it never fails to give me a number.
I use the Garmin X10.
It's brilliant - so small that it doesn't bother me when playing and gives all the info you need, including hazards/doglegs etc.

I got it for £99 about a year ago, very happy with it.

Yeah that looks great, sadly it wouldn't work at my place. The GPS signal here is officially 'BAD' according to Hole 19. It's brilliant - so small that it doesn't bother me when playing and gives all the info you need, including hazards/doglegs etc.

Hi all, I’m after some thoughts on what you’d do.
I’m getting back into golf after a fair few years off and assuming all is enjoyable I’ll upgrade my clubs later in the year or early next year.
I plan on going for fittings but what would be the suggested approach?
I’m in Surrey so can do any of the following:
American Golf on a club by club basis
Fitting day for a specific brand e.g Mizuno at Bearwood lakes (but don’t know if I’d prefer different brands)
Precision Golf (or equivalent) where you can hit everything but is more costly.
Thanks!

Precision golf without a doubt, avoid American golf. I’m getting back into golf after a fair few years off and assuming all is enjoyable I’ll upgrade my clubs later in the year or early next year.

Mizuno has a great setup at bearwood but obviously you're limited to the brand ( not that they don't make great clubs)

Had my first round in quite a while yesterday. With the mrs pregnant and due to pop any day I was restricted to the local 9 hole par 3 course as it’s only a few mins from home.
Dreadfully maintained course, however it was nice to be out and once I’d loosened up my swing a little made some alright shots. Really enjoyed it to be fair.
I’ve been playing on and off for about 4 years now but never more than once or twice a month.
Im hooked again and this time I’m planning on joining a club so I can start playing more often.

Am in South Wales now. But originally Hampshire. If you find yourself in South Wales shoot me a message and I'd be up with a game. Just don't expect any high-quality golf from me.
Funny coincidence, I’m based in Newport. A stones throw from Celtic manor. Seriously, send me a pm - let’s have a round Stan the Bat said:

Well I finally managed to get out on the course yesterday. I last played, I think it was, on 24 March. Only played the outward 9 but my god was it good to be back out. Very overcast and cool plus it had rained overnight which made the fairways very soft.
Outward 9 is Par 35 - I shot 38. I am now going to stop playing golf for another 12 weeks!
Before teeing off I was in the Pro shop (as you do) and I was commenting on my lack of being able to get on with my TM M2 driver. The Pro eagerly suggested that I try the Titliest TS2 that he uses - which I happily accepted. I tried it on 4 holes, hitting 2 drives each time with the TS2 - felt very, very good I have to admit. I felt confident with it in my hands and hit some very good drives.
Off the the driving range this weekend to try it some more.

Looks nice! Did you get fitted for it? I see they have several versions - high/mid/lo
I didn't, it wasn't even my first choice, I was going for the Srixon u85 but on the advice of my mate I went for this ( he's a golf pro)I went for the gapr lo 3 adjusted to the highest loft, see how it does Sunday, also helped I got it at cost price...

Interesting, I'm not sure if I should go for something like this or a 5 wood.... I have several friends that love their Srixon U85's.I went for the gapr lo 3 adjusted to the highest loft, see how it does Sunday, also helped I got it at cost price...

Love the club and blends in nicely with my Z765 irons, very similar in looks.
It replaced a hybrid and the consistency compared to the hybrid is night and day.

I have a 3 hybrid at the moment and it's a bit of a hook machine! Not overly happy with it. So hybrids are out of the window, it's either a U85 or similar or a 5 wood.Love the club and blends in nicely with my Z765 irons, very similar in looks.
