How's this for a first tee!
The tee box is about 10ft above waiting golfers and there was about 50 golfers waiting yesterday morning! I'm not one for first tee nerves but that certainly put them to the test!
Very relaxed atmosphere with cheers for a good first tee shot and pantomime boos for bad ones.
A couple of mates wanted a round but aren't members anywhere so we went to a course not too far away where you can turn up and play. No dress code, £12 a round and everyone welcomed. Great course.
The hilight being the 16th. Par 3 155yrds but plays about 90yrds..........the green is about 100ft below the tee box.

Why were 50 golfers all waiting at the same time? Odd behaviour
There's no bookings. Just turn up and play.Talking to the owner (it's a family run course) and he was saying since the majority of courses are only allowing members all non members are flocking to this course. Their takings have sky rocketed since the easing of the lockdown.
We had five 4 balls in front of us so had an hour wait but was in no rush.
I don't think anyone minded the wait as the atmosphere on the first tee was brilliant.
A completely different golfig experience than I'm used to but one I bloody enjoyed!
Played full 18 holes yesterday. It really is just so nice to be out there in this weather.
Mixed bag of good and bad shots in the round and left a good few shots out there (especially putting from within 3-4 feet). Ended up shooting 79 which I was happy with given the time off.
Back out again this PM.

Really enjoying get back out there playing golf, but really struggling with strike. Bad shots are duffs and thins and struggling to strike the ground after the ball.
Range was a struggle yesterday, but watched this video from Padraig and seemed to resonate. Need to get on the range again and practice.

I was averaging 91mph with my 7 iron which I was pleased with! The dispersion with the heavier shaft was much better than my old Pings (stiff CFS shafts at 105g).
C Taper X stiffs 130g are pretty much the 'stiffest' shaft out there, granted they are 1/2'' long so will play a touch softer, but still P6.5/7.0 or x100 territory, there pretty heavy going, personally id ask them to make up a demo for you to try before you order.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
