Getting a little frustrated, in the last few rounds I've shot level par gross for 9 holes of the round (front/back respectively), only issue was I shot my handicap (9) for the other half of the round!

First medal this weekend - lets hope i can combine the good bits for that....

So annoying how the front/back nines play so differently for no reason! Good luck in the medal

Gets even more frustrating at one of the course I play - it's a 9 hole course, with 18 tees, so you effectively play a similar 9 twice. I've lost track of the number of times I've gone out in 35, back in 43, or vice-versa.

It is a stupid game smile

I've always carried and always looked at trolleys and was like no thanks.

But after really getting back into it lately and wanting to be as competitive as I can it just makes sense, so with the recent heat and then getting the chance to get this with 25% off I couldn't resist

Had an hour or so between calls/work and popped down to the driving range. I don't normally video myself nor take notice of what I am doing. However, thought I would give it a whirl.

Its actually somewhat shocking watching yourself sometimes. Very old school (left heel up) and I am very steep. However, out of the 40 balls I hit with the Marverik driver, 30 were very straight and at around 230-240m with range balls.

Comments / laughs / criticism very much welcome.

Left heel up these days seems to be a thing - enables more turn of the hips and upper body and therefore greater club speed.

I don't think I'm in any position to laugh or comment - maybe I'll put one up of mine soon (once I've had a haircut!!).

It's a good job you're not in an indoor range smile

There is a problem with golf videos on youtube - apart from Golfholics who add tracing and circles as they land, you can hardly ever see the ball once it has been hit. Have to say though your driving range has a great view smile

There is a while host of "unconventional" swings out there these days on the various Tours - I have not changed mine in some 42 years of playing.

I don't suffer from needing a haircut laughlaughlaugh

Not heard of any indoor ranges here in Durban, South Africa - maybe a few bays in a Golf Shop but thats it.

I had to juggle my golf clubs around and use head covers to support my iPhone to take the video! hahaha

Tracky pants and at least they are not hanging down the back of my knees! tongue out Winter here in South Africa - not as warm as the clear skies would have you think.

I really would like to flatten out my swing - more sweeping.

Looks pretty good to me!

I've also been trying to shallow things out over the last year or so with a degree of success - I still get steep occasionally (especially out of fairway bunkers) as I can't resist the temptation to pound down on the ball to get some spin. Works great with an 8 iron, less well with a Driver smile

I count myself as a "feel" player, so apoliogies if this sounds like drivel, but to shallow out I changed the part of my body I focused on to drive the swing. Previously it was all hands and arms, which I saved from being disastrous with good timing and rythym, but I found I had much more control and better ball flight if I drove the swing by rotating my shoulders, rather than throwing my arms at it.

Easier for me to do than explain lol, but that was the general idea. That and trying to stop from coming over the top, which the shoulder approach worked well with.

This was a vid I took towards the end of last year. Still take the club a little on the inside on the way back, and don't quite stay down on the way through, but much better than 3 years ago. I even hit the right fairway occasionally now hehe

Will do another one next time I can persuade the wife to come to the range with me.

I'm terrible for coming over the top / steep, these are come old videos but shows how had it was at times

https://youtu.be/9u-HRQOf_-Y

https://youtu.be/DruVq2u64eg

Since then, had a few lessons and worked on my take away and a much flatter / extended motion and then much more hips first before bringing the club down, seems to be much improved for my game / ball striking

The guy at the Grove gave me a good drill. Stand with your trail foot further away from the ball.... its really hard to come over the top stood in such a way.
