You have to also ask the question why I’m he isn’t playing blades and has opted for really fat “launcher” irons. The exact opposite of blades.
That’s an excellent point.

Standing on the 15th tee on Saturday morning with a measly 20 points, my playing partner (plays off of 3) had 24. Yes it was bloody windy, but I hadn't played well.

Walked off the 18th on 30 points after a par-bogie-par-par finish and beat my partner by 4 points, after he finished par-blob-blob-blob tongue out

It's a funny old game!

Have been going 2-3 times per week since the reopening! Did Renishaw Park Golf Club last night and was very nice, course in decent condition but no scorecards which I couldn’t understand?! 33 points and had 4 silly 3 putts.

Looking at getting a trolley, would want a push one rather than electric. Any recommendations? Motocaddy Cube is winning at the mo.
I’m a big advocate of all things Sun Mountain when it comes to bags and trolleys

We have matches with RsG twice a year, what did you think of it? Condition is normally quite disappointing (it gets a LOT of traffic!).

Shot 80 on Saturday morning for 35 points. Pretty happy with that, 38 on the front 9. Let it slip a little on the back but feeing good at the moment.

Finally booked in for a fitting on Monday! Just hoping for some good weather now (will be a combination of Trackman outside on the grass range and inside on the GC thingymajig)

I use the Garmin X10.

It's brilliant - so small that it doesn't bother me when playing and gives all the info you need, including hazards/doglegs etc.

https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/583980

I got it for £99 about a year ago, very happy with it.

I didn't, it wasn't even my first choice, I was going for the Srixon u85 but on the advice of my mate I went for this ( he's a golf pro)

I went for the gapr lo 3 adjusted to the highest loft, see how it does Sunday, also helped I got it at cost price...
Interesting, I'm not sure if I should go for something like this or a 5 wood.... I have several friends that love their Srixon U85's.

Srixon U85 owner here.

Love the club and blends in nicely with my Z765 irons, very similar in looks.

It replaced a hybrid and the consistency compared to the hybrid is night and day.
I have a 3 hybrid at the moment and it's a bit of a hook machine! Not overly happy with it. So hybrids are out of the window, it's either a U85 or similar or a 5 wood.

Really enjoyable game this morning!

Gross 78 for 37 points. And that was with four 1 pointers on the card. Also 4” from a hole in one!

Really feel my game is coming along now, really enjoying my golf.

Well I cant compete with you guys for score. But I'm over the moon. I only played 9 holes. But I managed not only to start and finish with one ball. But I scored 52 shots for the 9 holes.

Most on here would be appalled at that score. But it's only the second time I have counted my score. And I've only been playing two weeks.

With some lessons I might even be able to break 100! Absolutely buzzing.

My method... I simply took every club further than a 5 iron out of my bag. And I read the 5 lessons book by Ben Hogan. If I hadn't taken 4 shots to get out of a bunker I'd have scored under 50.

Superb! Well done, keep going and get those lessons so you have some swing basics ingrained from the beginning!

I’m looking at the ST200 driver and 3 wood. Going for a club fitting tomorrow afternoon. Driver and 3 wood get fantastic reviews all over t’interweb. Under the radar because not your usual driver brand, great price point is a bonus!

Interesting - I thought it was a minimum 10 minute booked tee time to enable track and trace? Sounds like they’re not completely abiding by the current regulations?

Bet it was good fun though!

Yep. We had a little discussion about the wedge shaft but my old wedge shafts were 120g anyway so just thought I’d stick with the same throughout the set.

I was averaging 91mph with my 7 iron which I was pleased with! The dispersion with the heavier shaft was much better than my old Pings (stiff CFS shafts at 105g).
