Windies bowled well in the first innings, but the conditions weren't conducive to batting, IMO, so the decision to bat first was very risky. Is Ben now regretting that choice??

I wonder what Joe would have chosen at the toss?

Nonetheless, we have the bowling line-up to keep this first Test competitive!
We do, but by and large, we like to bowl back of a length, when a fuller line will work far better

Agreed, which in retrospect, is why Sam Curran should have been selected but Woody is capable of the fast, swinging full length delivery. With better weather forecast tomorrow, the morning session could be crucial to get through the WI top order and I hope Wood will be given a chance above Archer.

Finally a wicket, from a spinner. Just goes to show that the team selection really was wrong.

Broad / Curran / Woakes would have a field day on this pitch.

And another one, though fortunate. Has there been any LBW decisions not referred?

4 down. Could still come away from this with only a 600 run deficit hehe

The cloud cover down here has lifted and wind dropped. What are the Windies doing? Must press on now to score as many as possible to set them up for a win given the forecast for the next two days!

Unless they believe they can skittle England cheaply on a drying wicket tomorrow this is very defensive.

Draw?

England should be happy to get a draw out of this, unless the pitch deteriorates badly on day 5, which seems unlikely.

I'm afraid Wood and Archer are not firing in this match. I trust the selectors will give Curran and Woakes a run out in the second Test?

Still predicting a drawn match even with a 120ish lead!

A draw seems most likely, providing we bat sensibly tomorrow, but when did we last play sensibly in the first test of a series?

England had an excuse in their first innings, batting in less than perfect conditions. They must show, tomorrow and Sunday, that the batting lineup is worthy of further selection by not losing this Test. 250-300 runs at the end of play tomorrow with no more than 5 down will probably be enough?

Broad will be back I reckon, he gave an interview to Sky earlier and didn’t hold back. Aggressive was talking about Braod on TMS...took 478 wickets last year and made the point (which I had forgotten) that England dropped him for the first test in the Windiest last winter which we were st in.

Speculation was that Broad was in the squad that the selectors present to the captain and it was Stokes call on Broad.

From what I have seen Wood whilst bowling with real pace hasn’t troubled the batsmen and probably bowled too short. Archer just not looked threatening.

Curran was never going to play as he had an illness which they feared may have been the corona virus. Thankfully he's on the mend.

I still think the selectors made the right decision in selecting Archer & Wood.

It's not their fault we didn't make enough 1st innings runs.

Well its time to bat all day and look for 300. Wood will be a handful tomorrow, and there is no dropping Archer he needs to learn his trade, needs 20 more tests and lots of different situations to round him out. Broad and Andersen are just so experience, great reaction from Broad, and yes he would have been a better pick for this game.

What do you do though, Jimmy A is 37 and still chasing his first test century, cruel to leave him out now, and you can’t play both of them.

All going along nicely this morning until Burns chips a simple catch to point! irked

Wicket might be showing a few signs of variable bounce though which could make day 5 interesting.

Keep concentration England, plenty of runs in good batting conditions today and 300-5 at stumps will do nicely!

Sibley reprieved after a marginal no ball tickles one down the leg side. Soft dismissal, concentrate ffs!

Match building nicely!

New ball imminent, but still predicting 300-5 at stumps at worst.

Crawley 100?
