Anyone using the shotscope V3 ? Thoughts?
Playing with a lad who used one today and it sounded/looked really quite good - The information is was gathering for him seemed really helpful. Watch looked a bit basic but gave you enough info i think..
Not Shotscope, I use Arccos with my Apple Watch. Playing with a lad who used one today and it sounded/looked really quite good - The information is was gathering for him seemed really helpful. Watch looked a bit basic but gave you enough info i think..
The info on the watch is basic, but I’m only really interested in front, middle, back yardages. If I need more details such as a yardage to a hazard, then I use the app on my phone.
The stats are useful if you intend to do something with them. Before using Arccos I was convinced my putting was a problem and my driving was decent, the stats would suggest otherwise.
It does take a bit of effort to collect and ensure the stats are accurate, we’re talking seconds between holes and maybe a couple of minutes after a round to check everything is correct.

Been using a Shotscope for the last year or so and it's brilliant. Pretty much zero faff on-course, easy to edit rounds to move pin positions around and add the (very) occasional missed shot. Just be aware that it doesn't do on-course scores as it only works that out once you submit the round to their servers.Playing with a lad who used one today and it sounded/looked really quite good - The information is was gathering for him seemed really helpful. But for the stats on how you actually play, how far you hit the ball, and which parts of your game you need to focus on it's simply fantastic. Highly recommended.

Been using shotscope since V2 before moving to v3, great bit of kit and can really improve your game if you dial down on the stats it provides. I use the same system. Main issue is currently my Apple Watch battery doesn’t last a whole round so have to switch to iPhone at some point. Pain as watch is very easy to do the pin positions. The info on the watch is basic, but I’m only really interested in front, middle, back yardages. Love doing the stats after the round - but agree it does take a bit of effort. Find it very interested and very helpful for areas to improve.
Would recommend as an option but have never used shotscope so can’t offer a comparison.

Arrghhhh.... my Mum and Dad gave me a Stromberg golf hoodie for Christmas!!
It's a lovely garment..... but it's a hoodie!! Being a traditionalist I'm going to struggle to play in it, I might have to leave it for off course wear only!!
Don't think I'd be allowed on/wear one....the club secretary ran out onto the 1st tee last year due to a guest with an untucked shirtIt's a lovely garment..... but it's a hoodie!! Being a traditionalist I'm going to struggle to play in it, I might have to leave it for off course wear only!!

Why? How does someone wearing a hoodie have a detrimental impact on your golf?
I would far rather be playing behind a group of kids wearing hoodies and ripped jeans who can actually hit the ball than the Major and his Sunday foursome wearing all the gear but who can't get it more than 100 yards off the tee.I know where I think the problem with modern golf is and fair to say it's nothing to do with what you wear.

Love golf but hate this sort of stuff in clubs. Just about forcing their view of the world on others.
There's a bloke at my club who makes his own pants and I often have to avert my eyes they're so bright but they are trousers and therefore 'legal'. Although I'd never wear anything like it myself I think he adds to the experience.
The association of hoodies with hoodlums is totally out of date now anyway, maybe that tells us more about the folk who run the sport.

Anyone else get any Golf gifts this Christmas good or bad? I did ok with some really nice gloves and decent balls compared to previous years of useless golfing tat. Treated myself to a new cart bag as well. It's a lovely garment..... but it's a hoodie!! Being a traditionalist I'm going to struggle to play in it, I might have to leave it for off course wear only!!
As for the hoodie Rosscow, you can always wear it to the course and just change out when you get there if you feel a bit self conscious wearing one on the course. For me I wouldn't wear one anyway playing the game as I don't like having hoods on or around my neck during it.
Nice pressie you got regardless.
Played Sanford Springs today and it was a battle with the elements. Heavy the rain the last few days meant a lot of the holes should have been closed but the rest of the course seemed ok.
Lots of plugged golf balls, no run on drives or iron shots so it was carry distance only. Will hopefully get back in the Summer as the course looked like it could play very nicely. Stupidly hilly though

Had the same at Chipstead GC. Terribly stuffy attitude in this day and age. If it’s a private member’s club and they buy in to a uniform of sorts then fair enough. But if it’s a struggling club that’s desperate to get anyone to play there then it’s counterproductive at best.

It doesn’t! Just personally not sure if I feel comfortable with it.Also unsure if I like the idea of the hood hanging around my neck. I’ll give it a go and see if I like it!
Not sure if the Club will have something to say about it or not, but it is a very traditional club.
