Can't remember a time in many years when the weather was so wet or frosty to prevent play. No doubt in my mind I wouldn't have played much in this lockdown period if courses were open.
My club have emailed this week with a few sweeteners which I find encouraging that they've done so.
The course will still be very wet if play is possible after the next corona review so it will need a few dry weeks leading up to April for regular golf.
Regarding my quest for new irons I'm keen to get a good fitting as soon as they open, I still fancy the Ping i210, Mavrik Pro etc and I'm desperate to order something but I need proper advice re the lie angle. I've played last 20 yrs with an upright lie so I'd like a correct one now.
Sorry for rambling post, bit bored....

Know the feeling on the fitting - I'm looking at a set of JPX 921 forged, wedges, utility iron/hybrid, 3/4 wood and a check on the driver shaft and waiting for the fitting studios to reopen.
I've had all my subs paid into my pro shop account for the duration of all lockdowns. With a competition win last autumn too near 1/2 of the likely bill should be covered at least!

Yes the Mizunos are in the mix too. Nice work with putting the money by, free golf clubs!
Thanks - my club have been good about things tbh - they've offered all members 3 options - refunds for periods of closure, money on bar/pro shop cards or just letting it go to them - thought middle was fairest tbhThey've even used this time (and November) to invest in the course too - cleared hundreds of trees/historic mulch, full irrigation systems and have refine the car park - think it's all come to well over £1m
April before the golf courses open - what the actual fk

News outlets are all buffoons. DM said early march last week. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9267563/R...
Best way to find out is to wait
Wouldn't be supprised if it was April. Which is mental considering the other things we are permitted to do.
There is only so many times I can hit a ball into a net in the baxk garden. Luckily I don't have a room big enough for a proper launch monitor otherwise I might be in even more trouble with the wife.

I'd be surprised if it was any time in March to be honest.
I've actually enjoyed the break! Got loads done at home. If it is early April then it'll be about 14 weeks without so much as a chip in the garden.
First tee shot back will be interesting!

FFS, why not the 8th - would rather play legally on a properly maintained course - Saturday's round was good fun with loads of people out (even played through a 7-ball!) but would be great to play my own course again
Maybe if everyone had honoured the rules to which we were asked to abide then it may have been earlier Hobo said:

Don't humour me - "abiding by the rules" makes no difference to the whims of the government, especially when a huge proportion of cases arise within hospitals themselves.

No interest in getting into this argument with you, just pointing out the simple facts, ie that people were asked to abide to some certain rules and whilst many chose to do so, many others decided they knew better and ignore them. To myself, it would make clear sense that those ignoring the rules increased the spread of the virus. Whether that be all of them, or few of them, I suspect we will never know, but certainly increased the spread which resulted in more significant lockdown penalties for all being required.
Why you appear to be choosing to comment that the end of March is a joke when you haven't abided to lockdown rules seems comical to me. Each to thier own though.

Not saying I disagree with that, however rules were put in place and we were asked to abide by them. Some chose to, others chose not to. Clearly there were reasons for such rules, and obviously the government were never going to please everyone, but they had to do something. As much as I would have loved golf to continue so I could play the odd social game with friends, I would also have hoped childrens swimming would have continued as have 3 children, 2 of which pre-lockdown swam pretty much everyday, and the youngest of the 2 had just been selected for England pathway. To try and get back to the level of fitness that they had after in essence 6 months of no swimming will be a massive difficulty for someone of thier age, and will result in many similar people quitting no doubt. No doubt reflected in other sports of all categories. Puts my 'odd social' round into context.
I generally have no interest in listening to those who decided they knew better than the government and did what they thought was for the best themselves. I can't change them, and will likely never will an argument with them about it so there is little point in trying, but certainly have little time for them.

Its a joke because I'd much rather play my own golf course, rather than parking down a lane and sneaking into another (lower quality course) to play
into holes where flags/cups have been removed.
People playing golf or getting on with it have made zero difference - its seasonal, it would always go up in winter
