This isn’t Test cricket though is it. It’s like batting on a 4th X1 track. It’s fascinating but not a 5 day challenge which is what Test matches should be. It’s difficult to describe just what this is.

Indeed. It's entertaining in a stupid way for a one-off, but it's not test cricket. There does, at least, need to be a fair contest between bat and ball.

An embarrassment for test cricket.

Hope they don't shoehorn Steph's Packed Lunch back on the Channel 4 schedule tomorrow!

I understand. We have all been shortchanged unfortunately.

That's the end of that test.

The biggest loser is test cricket in general and Indian test cricket in particular.

I is disappoint.

Think about this...

India were 99-3 in their first innings this morning.

And now the test match is over.

The most ridiculous test wicket I have seen in all my days. This wasn't a fair contest between bat and ball and won't please the sponsors or TV companies, I suspect, and made a mockery of Test cricket but will the ICC do something about it?

Amazing really, interesting to watch but not really a classic test.

I expect if England had won though we’d all be saying how awesome it was. hehe

India will say (and they are largely right about this) that England lost due to an inability to cope with the conditions and really poor batting in the first innings which left them at a massive disadvantage.

It was not India's or the pitches fault that England couldn't last more than 30 odd overs in a Test innings, they were mentally under the cosh and it cost them.

Well that's a shame, what a silly match. I don't mind if we lost, but I like to see five days (or at least four) of battling test cricket. One and a half days?! I bet C4 are screwing - paid all that money for the broadcast rights and three whole days of cricket have gone begging. Also one of the additional reasons they bid for the rights is this very match - being a day/night test the start time was very UK friendly for viewing figures, ad revenue etc. Shame for the fans all round really.

Indeed a real shame.

Also can't hold out much hope for the last test being much better - at the same ground on probably a very similar pitch. Not sure there is a lot that can be done between now and the start of that match to sort it out.

One bonus, no more Skoda ads and that song about the whirlpool on it!

There should be a minimum time limit for a Test result to be valid, say three full days. If the normal innings are completed before then they have to have another innings each until they pass three days.

An excellent point and one I’d not considered. They’re spitting feathers I’d bet.
