Bravest athlete ever? I think not.
Discussion
I really think this whole thing is ridiculous.
I met my wife when we where in the same ski team. She was a multiple national champion in the Olympic squad. I was quite frankly just slightly above average.
I was a good chunk faster than her. If I had decided to become trans when I was 20. Could have jumped to the sharp end of the World Cup as a women.
Which would of course be ridiculous and in my mind is straight cheating. It’s in the same league as massive amounts of drugs to build a body that is unnatural. It’s a insult to the women out there working ridiculously hard to get to the top.
Sorry for the rant it’s something that bothers me more than it probably should.

On the subject of the transgender athlete...let me introduce you to Gabi Garcia who's not transgender but regularly competes against other women and at the end of the month is going up against a guy.
Failed a steroids test (clomiphene), shame because she's a good fighter. FWIW clomiphene is used to restore test levels after an anabolic steroid cycle.edit for poor grammar

Are there (m)any successful trans athletes who’ve gone from competing against females to competing against males?
Besides non-physical sports like Poker, I believe the answer is a resounding “NO”, for all of the obvious reasons.https://youtu.be/wxDaiyREBPw

So someone with the size and strength of a man, fighting women is brave? Or did I get it wrong?
They must mean the other woman that's brave (or stupid) enough to get into the ring with someone who has the physical size and bone density of a man. ntiz said:

But when prize money is equal are you surprised it's happening?I met my wife when we where in the same ski team. She was a multiple national champion in the Olympic squad. I was quite frankly just slightly above average.

The 500th ranked male tennis player earns a reasonable living.
If they became trans they'd be a millionaire within a season and have to do a third less work.
I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

I suppose the only logical solution to all this is to remove gender based categorisation for sport altogether and have people of all genders competing against each other.
If you do this, then no genetic female would ever be able to compete or win. This is why female sport exists. E63eeeeee... said:

I'm not sure he does, not from watching Free Solo anyway. He comes across as being wired very differently.
The same as almost anyone that’s achieved the nigh on impossible in anything. It’s why someone “normal” cannot get their head round it, and of course will never achieve anything noteworthy relatively speaking, in most cases.

Gabi Garcia is probably in that rare grey area where "gender" becomes a biologically tricky definition, same as that Caster Semenya, Chris Cyborg, Fstima Whitbread, Martina Navaratalova and a bunch of successful females, even without the supplements I think they're probably close to the wind... But, hey, I'm no endocrinologist... I just know I like to watch sport that competitive and fair, otherwise its not sport.

You just can't account for everything no matter how good you are and one tiny mistake, his or otherwise is instant death.
Makes bloody good TV though.

Caster is a male with dsd, the rest are actual women. Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
