Some people cant help themselves. The culture secretary has got involved as well for no reason.

Its an ECB matter, they have decided to suspended him, it will be a one match ban as everyone moves forward.

A one match suspension means he misses the next test against NZ and means the next time he could play for England is in August, when the likes of Stokes and Sam Curran will be back in the squad instead.

There is the possibility that Robinson may never play another test, unless players get injured.

Would be a shame, but the ECB should have done their due diligence before this, and while not equally to blame (they didn't tell him to post those tweets), they are not blameless in this instance.

Can't really say people should be punished for racist remarks they made a few years ago can he?

Craig Overton will be his likely replacement in the next test, not sure how the ECB can explain that one given the Robinson suspension.

Double standards? I guess the thing with Robinson is that it all came out on a day when the ECB etc were promoting anti racism, so some egg on face.

At the end of the day the ECB dropped the ball.

The ball wasn't dropped, they weren't even looking for it. Surely every professional team looks through the ttter feed of whichever tt they want to play for them before deciding if they're the right sort of tt for them?

Overtone was disciplined, Robinson has been suspended pending investigation, seems straightforward enough

You'd like to think, but clearly not, seeing as how this is (at least) the second time it has happened.

Two things:

1. England traditionally lose the first test of the bloody summer at Lords. I would much rather we didn’t. A draw is always better than a loss, no matter how boring it is.

2. The ECB once again showing they are prats. You get used to it after a while, so that is no longer shocks you.

ECB to take 'appropriate action' over England players' historical tweets as more emerge - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/57407788

Who are the victims that Mark Ramprakash is referring to?

Ffs, as ever these days this has been turned up to eleven and completely blown out of all proportion.

Ollie Robinson posted some offensive tweets when he was a kid and not yet a full England cricketer. He has apologised for this and received a one match ban which is reasonable. Why are some people still out for blood on this then? Ramps and Michael Carberry have already being getting involved.

It really pissed me off especially as it overshadowed the first Test the TMS feed was full of loaded posts about him which were of no relevance to the match.

There is a fundamental flaw in the basic argument

Syed says had the ECD known about the tweets "he would not have been eligible for selection in the first place."

That's not necessarily true. Given this issue had already been addressed, they could simply have actively managed the situation with an appropriate statement in advance.

As it is they've got a mini-crisis on their hands - they really need to up their news management game.

I can't see that a statement in advance to say they are going to pick someone who's sent racist tweets would cut it.
