Wonder if Scottish Golf is the same? I had googled it extensively a while back and all I could find then was an option for players who didn't already have a club.

Hardly ever take a divot so just for fun had some short/medium irons practice with the ball opposite my right foot, toes pointing straight at ball, interesting (good) results. Will see if it works in the heat of battle tomorrow.

Really enjoyable round at Stonehaven today. New driver worked a treat, and decent putting on slow greens had me 3 under my handicap. Fantastic views up and down the cliffs , just made it in before dark. Lovely end to the year.

Didn't realise there was someone else from my area- I stay in Stonehaven. Only moved here a year ago though and haven't played it yet.

I've had it described to me as 'a st Pebble Beach' and that you'll never have a lie where the ball isn't above/below your feet.

First time there for me today. It’s definitely a bit Pebble Beach’ish. Saying it’s a st version is very harsh. Dramatic views, hits along the cliff lines, drives over gulleys etc. It’s not all mountain goat stuff though and even the loop the other side of the railway is nice. Soggy underfoot today, but flat calm. Different proposition in the wind I’d expect.

I’m a member at Torphins - humble but 5 mins from home. I get around though, mainly round the Deeside courses.

Got to play the West Course at Wentworth today. Best mates step dad is a member and had a few guest passes to use up. As a high handicapper it was a tough course, and the winter weather made it play very long.

Walked it a few times watching the BMW PGA so to play it was amazing. Hopefully we can get back in the summer and play some of the other courses.

Yeah it’s defo expensive, apparently it might be going up for new debentures as well. He has been a member for years so I don’t think he minds paying, and not short of a few quid.

New owners don't want anyone on the course I expect.

I played with a guy who got banned for having a wee on the course, they were just looking to get rid of "low" paying members.

I've never played it but that never seems to worry me.

He agreed the debentures thing is ridiculous, but he did say that it’s made it more exclusive and reduced the amount of members. He pays it as he has been a member for years, got lots of friends at the club, and uses all the additional facilities like the gym and tennis club as well.

Plus he has 3 courses to choose from, and as he lives on the edges of the estate he can drive his golf buggy to the course which is handy biglaugh

You'll have a decent pair of lungs on you then!

I went there on my own one day last year and pretty much had the place to myself. The 240 yard blind par 3 is insane. biggrin

So Arccos tells me I played 64 rounds last year, not bad going I suppose. Though it does include the times I only played 9. Wondering if I can manage 100 rounds next year, which would be roughly 2 a week. Should be doable if I’m including 9 holes…

How many rounds a week do you typically average… how many would you like to average? wink

64 sounds pretty good.
I'm at around 20 for 2022 but I wasn't a member so I was mainly relying on invites. Re-joining for 2023 so hoping for twice a week in season, once a week either side - it's been such a pain in the ass not being a member as most of the GolfNow tee-times are terrible (especially Hot Deal).

Hoping to play some scratch league and inter-club events too which should bring up the rounds a little..

20 sounds pretty good too considering you don’t have a membership, no way would I have played as much without mine, it’s nice being able to get the good times etc. hopefully it doesn’t go up in March!

However, I would like to play a higher percentage of rounds as none “home” courses too. Maybe 10%.

1 round in 2022, 2 the year before, not great!

I'll never be able to play too regularly again due to injuries, 10-15 rounds might be realistic.

Anyone on here meet up for games? Happy to travel 1 hour ish for a game smile

Cheers, it'll be nice to invite people to play aswell rather than relying on invites and rubbish tee-times.
