M2s are legendary....not much more you can squeeze from them.....
The main thing I'm wondering is if I could really do with a strong 5 wood (18 degrees) for off the deck rather than 3 (or 4 in reality given they just brand it '3 high launch for the 16.5'.

Only time I won't hit driver off the tee is if there's a must-avoid hazard at driver distance as opposed to hitting a 3 wood for accuracy so it's generally an 'off the deck' club. Will be interesting to see what the numbers are when we get on the trackman and compare.

I'd leave the stealth fairway well alone although the hybrid has great reviews, it has the standard metal face...5 woods are great, seems 7 woods are the new thing now...I've got an old fli hi mizuno that I love.

FINALLY! broke my lowest score at my home course after recording a 76 gross four times over teh three years I've been a member there.

Went out Saturday afternoon in the glorious Dorset sunshine and shot a 75 gross. 13 pars, no birdies, 4 bogeys and 1 double. Playing off 12 on par 69 course so got 42 points tongue out

Couldn't be happier - and thinking back at just how many birdie putts I had that I just missed or left short (our greens are still a little bit bouncy at the moment so speed and roll is variable) gives me encouragement that with a better putting day when the surfaces improve there is still some scope for improvement!

Never had so many GIR's in one round - short 7 pars in a row on the front nine!!

Can't wait to get out there again now but unfortunately due to other commitments it's gonna be two weeks' time irked

Why?

Short of being prohibitively expensive, I'll not write-off any club without trying it first. The proof has to be in the pudding with golf clubs surely?

Managed an eagle 2 yesterday!

157 yards down wind, 9 iron.

Starting to play a bit better, putting certainly better than it has been.

Still too many 1 points in a round of 83 gross. Should be back in the 70’s soon though.

Going back to your original question, I haven't tried the TSi fairways, however I do have a 917 F3 15 degree which is not leaving my bag, ever. Got fitted for it 3 years ago when I broke my Nike in a small fit of rage (Hole 2 of a 36 hole scratch comp and was 5 off the tee, and didn't see the tree root in the bit of grass I thumped it into...), And it very rarely lets me down. Easy 250-260 off the tee, and similar numbers off the deck. Rest of my woods are Titleist and it fits very well.

Yes I noticed that on Saturday, maybe British greens are 'coming in' at last.

Alright for you lot, I didn't manage a 2-putt until the 11th hole today...

Going off general consensus of decent non biased youtube pros and my club pro, sold me a sim 2 driver, fitted for £275 and said the carbon face was a total gimmick, its all a bit Mehheh... taylormade are renowned but know the pr game

Ouch! My putts: 2,2,1,2,2,2,1,1,2,3,1,1,1,2,2,0,2,2 = 29.

Which immediately highlights my poor approach play smash

Picked up this cheat stick from Ebay. Needed a gap wedge, and struggle with my chipping as well. This should hopefully cover the gap between PW and 52 plus help around the greens.

Thanks chaps - have asked Princes for a quote. Someone else also mentioned The Oxfordshire - anyone been/played?

If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. I've taken a quick look on GolfBreaks and was surprised there were not more choices. Am wondering if it's a better idea to find a hotel seperate to a decent course?
I organised a golf society trip to The Oxfordshire last year and did Prince’s previously - Princes is definitely recommended and obviously has 27 holes depending on how much time you have.

There are some nice holes at The Oxfordshire and is set up well, with the hotel ‘right there’ unlike at Celtic Manor where you need to get a minibus to the TwentyTen course, for example (and it’s a reasonable trek to the first tees of the other courses too).

We did The Belfry some time ago - good for nostalgia reasons when you’ve seen some of the holes many times on TV!

Between your PW and a 52?

That’s 42 degrees - it’s a 9 iron. You’ve gone the wrong way! Your wedge should be about 45/46 degrees?

It’s a hybrid wedge. Only 35” long, upright like a putter, and can be used as a chipper and full shots to about 100 yards.

Will do. Its the older version of the new Cleveland Smart Soles https://www.clevelandgolf.co.uk/en/smartsole4.html

I did think about a chipper, but this should give me a little more versatility on approach shots, and around the greens. I have a tendency to duff and thin chips, and don't have the time to practise.

Starting to see some real gains with adding some speed now, touching 180 ball speed flat out, which has brought my overall ball speed up across the bag.

Played Cavendish the other day, second visit there and such a good layout, only short but some real quirky holes, for those who don't know was designed by Alister Mackenzie

38 points playing off 10
