On the Sky Sports Golf Podcast this week, one of them said that they asked a caddie what the atmosphere was like betweeen the players. The caddie said it was all very light hearted, the players chatting away and having a bit of fun. Not that competitive!

Its an exhibition (Apart from those who love competitive golf and watching people who genuinely want to win that day with all their being. But sod that, let's just throw money around).
Looking for a new driver.
Played a lot 20 years ago, then stopped due business, just getting back into it, hitting the ball nice with a slight draw.
I'd like to think i'll be playing to about 20 within a few months and improving over the next year.
My driver was ancient 20 years ago, looking at Cobra F9 speedzone, Callaway mavrik (standard) or Callaway epic flash.
Any advice other recommendations?.

I love my Cobra Radspeed but I don’t think you can go that wrong with any of the big brands. I would however go and get fitted and take your time. Try different shafts and head combos to find something you will get on with when you don’t hit it brilliantly.Played a lot 20 years ago, then stopped due business, just getting back into it, hitting the ball nice with a slight draw.

So today was the day...
What an experience, the whole week has been good, but today we were truly spoilt.
Greens were running at 12 (sickface) managed to shoot 85 and 33 points so really happy given the course...
Glad you enjoyed it! It is amazing and a brilliant place. One of our chaps gets on through Eligo and wants us to play it every year - gulp What an experience, the whole week has been good, but today we were truly spoilt.

Finally managed to get 3 scorecards together so should be getting an official handicap soon.
Also had a club fitting session last week and ordered a new Callaway Max driver which is hopefully coming soon, and a Ping rescue club which arrived today. Very pleased with it after a quick knock on the range this afternoon.

I’ve had the Taylor Made M2 for 5 years now and do not need anything else. Simple good club none of the faff of the M1 and others with adjustable weights. Loft is adjustable but I set it once and that was it. If you are on a budget they are probably a good deal now. Played the Walton Heath Mid Am yesterday.
What a course and overall experience in and around the clubhouse.
They laid on lunch and the catering was absolute class.
Scores will not be revealed it was off the purples at 7300 and absolute carnage.
Haha! 7300 is savage. Presume Old Course? Beautiful place. What a course and overall experience in and around the clubhouse.

The first hole must go down as one of the least glamorous opening holes in golf. No clubhouse in sight, no starter hut. Over the road from the car park and next to the road on the way in so looks just like an open field with a flag at the end. Oh and it being a 230+ yard par 3 is silly too!
A street view pic below so if you don’t know it
Genesis Scottish Open from The Renaissance on live stream here if anyone's interested, that place looks hard too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXCLRfqYrxQ Morikawa is about to miss the cut.

Just arrived in Edinburgh! It's quite breezy, which played havoc with the late starters yesterday. It's still playing havoc with them, Justin Thomas just missed the cut by a mile by finishing 10 over for his two rounds. It must give even the top US guys pause for thought when they come over and get beaten up by a coastal British course, accustomed as they are to (in general) much more benign conditions and courses that seem purpose built to generate low scores and TV-friendly incident. Stream has finished now btw.
I was hoping to see JT. I usually ensure that I am at the course before the cut, for this reason. If Speith blows it this afternoon I'll kick myself!
Absolutely agree that seeing the Americans playing in these conditions is quite satisfying.
Edinburgh is fully booked for next weekend (150th Open).
I just paid £280 for 4 days car hire. Next week there's nothing available for less than £300 a day, according to the Europcar desk.

I played the Old a month back off the 6,800 tees and that’s plenty far enough!

I was mixed feeling about the opening on the Old, the hole being where it was meant my swing was out of sight lol.The first hole must go down as one of the least glamorous opening holes in golf. Although the ball was running lots, the length was savage yes. I tried laying up on bunkers second round, the 4th is a joke, you've got a bunker at 250 yards and its a 519 hole. I did par that one laying up to the FW bunker so not all bad.
I wonder if historically WH used to have the 1st on The old as a par four extending from where the existing putting green is.
Amazing amount of real estate there though on the Heath, you won't see anymore courses like this ever built.

I picked up a Callaway Rogue ST max a few weeks ago and it's very impressive. Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
