I think it’s a terrible decision unfair on both Foakes and Bairstow.

For me the best person worth the gloves should get the job.

I am a massive Bairstow fan, I think asking him to do two things in the team is a mistake.

Agree. He did his best batting when he was just a batsmen. Stokes kept saying Foakes is the best wicket keeper. Of course I don't really have an answer how better to squeeze them all in.

Interesting on the BBC saying that Foakes sort of lost his place to Brook, not Bairstow, which I kind of get.

As a massive Alan Knott fan, I’m disappointed they’ve fallen back into the old Alec Stewart trap. I disagreed with it then and I disagree with it now. The batsmen need to take responsibility and score. You put the best keeper in to keep and take wickets. Nothing against Bairstow but he won’t keep as well as Foakes. Runs will be leaked and wickets not taken.

Worst of all IMHO it’s a sign to the opposition that you aren’t backing your batsmen to get the job done. Huge respect for Atherton, but it’s the wrong mindset.

Is it too late to get Rory Byrne back to open in the first Test?

England home summer matches start tomorrow with a one-off Test against Ireland. It's only two weeks until the rally important stuff starts.

Yep, cant wait. Still a couple of injuries but sounds like they are just resting so are 100% for the Ashes rather than not being able to play.

be good to see where Stokes and Bairstow are after their recent injuries

Just noticed "Today at the Test" highlights on BBC2 at 7pm each day too. Nice.

Already set series link. I have sky sports as well so will have it on the back ground anyway, WFH benefits but do enjoy the BBC highlights as well.

I'm pretty sure they will. They are secondary rights holders for all domestic cricket so there will be TMS and test commentary on the web site and should ve a Today at the Test highlights package.

I'll be mailing the Director General a turd if they dont

Just as long as its TMS and not TalkSport I’m happy.

Not only did we get a bat but a decent one at that. Bet that was Stokes goal, go out and try and take the lead before close.

Thankfully I have a clear diary tomorrow.
