It's not a bad knock from the Netherlands really, they are ticking over nicely and haven't collapsed or anything. Probably not enough to bother England but at least it makes for a defendable total.

Neds are playing ODI from 20 years ago, much like Enland used to. Strike rates of 50 - 70 OK. Try for 150 off 30 overs then accelerate and hope someone who pushed the ball around for 30 or 40 can stay in and accelerate.

A bit like when Root or Cook used to make a lovely century and we'd hit 270 odd and then lose.

Anyway - nice sunny day, good flat wicket, slightly B string bowling attack - yeah its a decent score.

This is where I think England need to improve, we're rather toothless with the old ball, so we struggle to kill teams off. I can see the middle order contributing quite a few runs between now and the new ball.

Yes, was coming in to say exactly that.

There was a run out earlier in the summer where I think they could have knocked the other stumps down too as the other batsman never went back, but they didn't bother. I assumed you could run both out, but I don't really know?
