True, they shouldn’t be a real challenge, but they will be thinking Ashes I hope. The batting is obviously a key area of improvement. Not so sure about coaching, if they haven’t worked it out by now then we need some new blood. Let’s see what the selections are like this summer and we can start the conversation again wink
Mental coaching, and knowing when to hoof it and when to play in - decision making basically.

Ok. I have said consistently that we need to be smarter when batting. So if that’s what you are saying then I agree. The more experienced guys like JB, will have to be replaced in all likelihood. However, conditions will (should) also dictate selection and batting at home is a different ball game as is down under. Lots of water to flow under the bridge before we get there though.

Experienced guys who are way off the pace must be dropped. Otherwise what is the message being given to everyone else.

Dropping after one bad performance is nuts. But so is what we're doing now smile

Mindset rather than talent is the problem.

Top 4 all got runs but only Crawley had a good series….Duckett and Pope played a very good innings each Brook should come back in for Bairstow’s batting place and I think we should give Foakes a chance as the regular test keeper….

They have two weak touring teams this summer so time to move the team forward and think about The Ashes in just under two years. Hard to see Anderson being on that but he’s still delivering so I am sure he’ll still be the mainstay of the seam attack.

The WI pace attack may wish to debate the weak issue and their spinner while not setting the world on fire was solid enough in their 2 test series here in Oz.

Shemar Joseph is rapid and moved it around

Yup very much looking forward to seeing him this summer, as a kid I grew up watching test cricket in the 80’s so nothing would make me happier than a competitive Windows team.

I think you’re watching the wrong game….Stoke’s captaincy has been of the highest quality in the field. Listen to any number of ex Pro’s and they all say he’s fantastic at manoeuvring his field and managing his bowlers.
Yeah, he’s been brilliant in this series. Absolutely top drawer. Flawless even. Beyond reproach.
Perhaps you can identify who you’d replace Stokes with ?

Not at the moment.

Literally anyone else.

I find his bluster irritating, and his performances as AN ACTUAL CRICKETER laughably inept. Does he really think selecting odd fields is in some way new or revolutionary? He probably does, because he thinks that trying to tt every ball to the boundary is somehow revolutionary.

He’s a one dimensional caricature and unless he learns better will end up being one of the great might have been.

IPL starts on Friday, not many big English names this year, not that Stokes and Root contributed much last year. They never put themselves up for it. Brook pulled out, Wood and Atkinson were pulled by ECB and Roy has opted out as well.

Bairstow probably should have pulled out based on his recent performance and worked on his Test fitness. Butler and Ali are in, Phil Salt and the Curran brothers, Toppley is in for 5 minutes till he gets injured again and a few others.

Last year I supported CSK, Ali, Stokes, and of course Mr Cool, MS Dhoni. Probably will stick with them. Although am torn with Lucknow as they have David Wiley and Northamptonshire being my closet county (live in Bucks, minor county)

Although now apparently Wiley has returned home and will miss at least the start of the IPL

Good to see Freddie is currently filming a new series of Field of Dreams, this time based in India. From the latest photos it is clear, from the scar tissue, he suffered a significant facial injury from the right side of his nose down to his chin. Hopefully, in time, he’ll be able to join up again with the England team in a coaching capacity.

Great to see Fred back at. I really enjoyed the first series of Field of Dreams.

He's also head coach for Northern Superchargers in the Hundred so hopefully he will be on some of the Sky coverage being interviewed.

No Stoksey for the T20 WC. No great surprise really. Says he will play some for Durham before the summer Tests.

Hopefully we will get to see him bowl this summer.

Poor bloke, such a talent but his career is on the way to being completely ruined.
