Jesus this looks very very bad for Conlan.

Being treated by paramedics after being smashed out of the ring in final round. Horrible to see after what was an epic contest.

Fight of the year surely.

Let's hope Conlan is ok.

Conlan has tweeted that he's ok.

Definitely fight of the year so far, Conlan boxed brilliantly for most of the fight but like his corner kept saying, he needed to "stay off the fking ropes" and he didn't.

Full credit to Wood, showed incredible heart to pull that one back from the abyss.

If Warrington beats Martinez then I imagine we'll get Wood Vs Warrington next, probably with a rematch clause. Still a great fight but a shame cos I'd really love to see these 2 run it back in Belfast.

Crikey that was some scrap!

Fair play to Wood Conlan seemed to tire and that big knockout started in the 11th he had his legs from under him despite the claim of slip!

Reading some reports this morning that Conlan may have fainted before being knocked/falling out of the ring.

Good news he’s ok and will hopefully make a full recovery.

He’s got some style and that big old swinging left really troubled Wood, who did well to keep going.

....
His shoulders had slumped forward with his hands by his knees, so it did look like he was unconscious before the end came. I presumed that would have been from a punch, but I don't think we have yet seen the other camera angles to know if that was true or not.

ETA : Conlan is saying that he was caught with a shot on the temple he didn't see.

It was from a punch. Clear from this angle: https://twitter.com/TheCombatCorner/status/1502797...

Woods/Conlan - what a fantastic fight. Shades of Jordan Gill a couple of weeks ago (although I'd argue that Gill's turnaround was WAY bigger/more amazing).

Props to both guys though - Leigh Woods won, but there were no losers in that fight whatsoever.

I know most of you guys are serious boxing fans, but any thoughts on the Thor Vs Hall fight, this Saturday?

Hall will pass out from exhaustion after 1 round. He looks genuinely comically bad in all the footage he's released. Thor has at least taken it seriously, changed his physique and done some exhibitions.

We'll be watching for a laugh but I have low hopes of seeing an exciting boxing spectacle!

That gloves are off type interview with Kugan with absolutely hilarious - on a par with Khan Brook hehe

Rooting for Eddie Hall, but not sure he can win.

Hall has shown his true colours - he's a nasty piece of work behind the laddy, jokey exterior, imo.

I do wonder whether Eddie has slightly misunderstood the brief on this one :

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/eddie-hall-t...

"Thor, for whatever reason, looks like a skinny dog on heat. For me, it’s just stupid. It’s supposed to be the heaviest boxing match in history, and he just looks ill. It’s not just me saying that, I see comments all over the place from people asking if he’s sick.

I thought the point was to have a tear up and see who wins, not to have the "heaviest boxing match in history".

I have a lot of admiration for Eddie and will be cheering for him but I do think Bjornsson has gone about this the better way. Importantly, he's actually had some real bouts and by losing so much weight surely he will far quicker and more mobile which to me (as a boxing layperson!) would assume would be a real advantage.

Still a bit of a silly event and detracts from the professional fighters but good luck to them anyway.

Theres a world of difference from just being a fat waller eating everything in sight and lifting weights to being a boxer. I'm not aware of the pro weighlifting scene but outside of the Olympics is it clean? Throw in steroids and is weightlifting just eating and lifting and the first person who's heart explodes looses?

Re Thor looking 'skinny', I think most people would look different after dropping 50kg+ in weight.

I think he'll made Hall look like an idiot in the ring.

Don't think I've seen anyone attempt to draw a comparison between strongman athletes and boxers, so what point are you responding to with that?

I also think you'll find there's just a wee bit of a difference between "being a fat waller eating everything in sight and lifting weights" and being a competitive strongman, just as there's quite a bit more to boxing than playing with a skipping rope and punching a bag.

Well its a huge conversion I think theres a lot more to being a boxer than a strongman. A lot of the guys in the Gym I used to go to just had steroids for breakfast but were in the pub all afternoon. Granted they could lift but they were extremely unfit and very fat! Not saying that what the elite level of strongman is but I'm saying I suspect there is a lot more to our noble sport than there is to strong manning

You're having an argument all by yourself dude, no-one said one sport was superior to the other, but oddly enough, you're the one belittling one sport over another.

Do carry on smile
