You would have thought they would get someone in who knows what they are doing. That Dr sounds particularly clueless doesn't he?

I'll be very careful what I say on a public forum but suffice to say he got fking banned from a certain gym run by a certain pal of mine years ago......however... My point re eastern European versus British /American chemists still stands;! Ha!!

The same Joe Louis who liked a bit of everything?

Fury is no angel, but if you are following boxing for character references you're a bit mad really rofl

Maybe google the quote so you know what I'm on about mate .. bit of a parrot whoosh moment for you here I think ...I'm not following boxing for "character references" and I'd wager my lifelong involvement in the sport trumps your seemingly fickle shallow knowledge of this game...

My 'fickle shallow knowledge of this game' is actually all I need, because what I seek from boxing is entertainment, not endless loops into the personalities of fighters. And despite my 'shallow knowledge' I know enough people in and around the sport, and other sports very similar to say that if they didn't make their money from it, they would likely be inside.

I would argue that for many people, the personalities of fighters is what makes boxing interesting. And whilst there isn't a hierarchy on forums, Tuscaneer is one of the 'good guys', particularly in terms of contributing with his knowledge and experience to this thread, so let's play nice smile

No problems here, but it's a bit sad people calling out others who they think aren't worthy for one reason or another. Generally a great forum this one.

You called me out though pal...and I bit back.... You made yourself look a bit of a tit there by missing the point of the quote completely and then having a pop over it...perhaps you need to read a few more books....And I'll reiterate... Plenty of people who post in this particular corner of pistonheads have a good, balanced deep knowledge of boxing's present and past ... And I for one think it's important to have deep understanding of where the sport was to have a better understanding of the sport at present....

So ..aside from a bit of bickering which I'm sure none of us want to continue..... I thought it would be interesting to go back to the first boxing thread here in pistonheads where we finally stopped having different threads for different fights... Volume one was started 15 years ago! .. and can you believe that the hot topic of conversation back then was the ", imminent" fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao..... Can't believe looking back it lingered on for 6 years before actually being made!!!!!

Mayweather definitely waited him out ... If the fight had happened when it was supposed to I am absolutely convinced Manny would have gone through Mayweather with his volume..... But we'll never know!!!

Mayweather offered him the fight earlier, Pacquiao turned it down because he's 'scared of needles'

I know Mayweather's style ages better, but he was 38 when the fight happened, 2 years older than Manny. Pretty risky strategy to wait someone out when you're older than them.

Well ... I certainly can't be arsed getting back into it all these years later but Pacquiao was racking up the miles far quicker than Mayweather and was DEFINITELY wayyyy further past his sell by date than Mayweather was regardless of physical age.... And as for the who was to blame thing... There was a thousand posts on it with a million "he did this, he did that" opinions.... We all will have our own opinions no doubt

One thing for sure.
They both definitely made a lot of money for that fight.

Better late than never.

I just hope,
Fury vs AJ and AJ vs Wilder eventually happens.

Yep, a younger MP (still my hero) without a torn rotator cuff would have got stuck in and maybe a different result

he was at his best from the early 2000s to about 2010/2011 i think with a steady decline after..gradually slowing down...ain his prime his work rate was insane, his movement was incredible... has was like the tasmanian devil back then... i wish we'd have had the fight with mayweather a decade earlier than we did !!

I thought he was supernatural against De La Hoya in 2008.

He was just a bundle of speed, energy and timing and had such easy power despite moving up the weights.

That Pacquiao was one of the best fighters the world has ever seen... What a phenomenal force of nature..
