Boxers are all arrogant you need to be. Occasionally it crosses over to Hubris (AJ/Wilder) but I wouldn't say with Canelo.

The offer from Bivol to go down is extraordinary if true.
the arrogance and cockiness in your fighting ability is essential in every boxer...the arrogance in canelo is there from that perspective of course (and so it should be)... it's the arrogance that comes from him EXPECTING everything his own way.. (down to judges on the payroll ruling in his favour/ creating his own weight divisions/ rehydration clauses etc etc) that i find nauseating.... it's cheating plain and simple... when does a sporting spectacle stop being "sport" and become theatre ?

I am not sure you can blame the judging on Canelo no more than you can blame Josh Taylor for the judging in his last fight.

Judges always favour the champion and/or the home fighter - it was always thus.

i agree.... to a degree... but with canelo it's been on another level and him and his team are complicit in it no doubt

he is 1000% an arrogant individual... his sense of entitlement to bend the sport to his will is borderline megalomania(and he's been allowed to do it due to his star power) .... not going back over the jumps but all the way back to defending belts at his own special weight clauses to avoid golovkin for years etc right through to last weekend.

his arrogance in just expecting the score cards to read in his favour at the end of what he pretty much knew would be a 12 round fight is incredible.... such was his arrogance in overlooking bivol he deemed it unnecessary to add rehydration clauses/limited camps etc etc... the arrogance cost him dearly at the weekend.... no doubt he'll try everything in his power to redress the balance for the rematch.

great move by bivol to get it in first about coming down to 168.... he's been on record for years now offering to go down a weight for the right fight as he can make weight fine..not so sure we will see canelo accept that offer

If Bivol drains down to 168 then he will lose no question. Can't see that happening though, it is just nonsense talk,

If Bivol was an effective 168 fighter then he would have been one before now - at 31 he ain't getting any younger or smaller.
I disagree. I see no reason why Canelo would hurt him at a lighter weight and the difference in technique cannot be rectified. Bivol also has far fewer miles on the clock and is improving. I don't think Canelo will take the fight but if I was Bivol I'd be tempted to stay away anyway because there is nothing the Canelo camp won't do to swing the verdict next time.

I won a fair bit at the weekend betting on Bivol.

If it was at 168 I would put it all on Canelo.

There is simply no justification that I can see for Bivol fighting at 175 if he felt he was strong and effective at 168.

You could even add insisting in the contract he gets to ring walk second, when he was the challenger not the champion, was somewhat arrogant.

Personally, I don't mind it so much - once a boxer gets to be top dog in terms of the generating the most money, they are all free to choose whether to eat at Canelo's table.

Whatever it said on what version of the plethora of belts is largely inconsequential. Canelo was the recognised P4P champion, the big draw in Boxing and he was fighting at home on the Cinco de Mayo with the support of most of the arena.

It made sense for everybody for him to ring walk second.

Except it wasn't respecting a tradition of the sport, where the challenger walks first and the champion second. So it fits into the pattern of Canelo being arrogant i.e. perceiving himself to be more important than the sport.

I think it's called upping the ante. Why wouldn't Canelo go for it?

per an interview with him on Bunces pod, it sounds as though he lost all the cash made up until about five years ago, so basically all the fights post canelo were basically pension building. sad how this happens

Is it sad? How's it happened? If he's blown it on extravagant crap then it's his fault really.
