I wonder what the prevalence of substance abuse is amongst amateur bodybuilders?
By substance abuse I assume you mean AAS. From my experience I'd say not high. Users? Quite a few. I'd guess about 10 - 20% of serious bbers use AAS.

I qualified as a personal trainer five years ago and I would say it is far more prevalent than 10-20%, which is pretty sad. I have been around sports for forty years, and I was shocked at the casual dealing at a local, fairly large, council run gym. The thing is, this is not confined to BB's, it will affect other males (largely) who wish to improve their bodyshape and if they take part in competitive sport, they will probably get done.

Perhaps you're based in a large city. Here in South Manchester the dealing isn't quite so flagrant. In fact I've never seen any at all in a council run gym. The bbers that do use are obvious and it's only really the hardcore blokes. I'm sure many dabble, but after the realities of a proper steroid cycle start to sink in probably won't bother again. a bit like hard drugs. a lot of my training partners past and present had done cycles, the average is about 3, before they realise unless you are going to dedicate yourself to bodybuilding the sacrifice just isn't worth it. I've also coached a few pro/semi-pro bbers so have some experience in the field. The only saving grace with AAS is that most beginners choose small quantities of the really mild stuff to start with - Test, Var, Primo etc and manage to escape without compromising their health too much.

A pretty hard video to follow. confused You didn't tell us what you thought it was conclusive about. The title of it isn't much help and the first 2-3 minutes of it are all over the place. So I gave up. Sorry - hope you don't mind me diverting the thread a bit?

There have clearly been some recent developments with respect to transgender competitors in swimming with transgender athletes now not allowed in women's events.

The definitely not-banned Sharron Davies is one of the people that has been talking about it. I also think it's a fair decision.

Thanks for that, a very good video which clearly shows the difference between males and females. The words at the end are also very true.

It's a great return on that Eton and Oxford education isn't it??

And this is the zenith of leadership and bravery in our politicians in 2022! Genius

Boris is actually wrong as most male mammals - not just men - are born with a penis

Anyway, does anyone else find this an enjoyable woke v woke catfight? biggrin

FWIW I am firmly on the "no trans in female or male sports" side, but enjoy the farcical "debates" more than anything

Sorry, I was on hols when I posted that and should have been clearer. It was meant to show the graphic differences in men and women in some sports. The 400m relay was especially telling, as was the tennis.
