Littler takes it. Mvg only averaged 88 but even so, can't take anything away from LL can you ; He's going to absolutely clean up this year I think.

Just watched today's matches.
Looks like those "pub darts" finally paid off!

Good luck to him, let's hope his form continues and he stirs things up a bit this year!

Just picked up Mrs UTH from Heathrow and all the darts boys landed just before her. Shook Luke’s hand and congratulated him. Random for 630am on a Saturday!

Luke turned 17 today party, granting him another 6 opportunities to become the youngest-ever world champion (currently MVG aged 24).

Some of his achievements so far include:

Youngest senior nine-darter

Youngest player to win a senior professional title

Highest average from a World Championship debutant

Youngest player to win a first-round match at a World Darts Championship

Youngest player to reach a World Championship final

Highest viewing figures for a non-football event on Sky

First darts player to hit one million Instagram followers

Most 131 to 140 scores at a World Championship..

Fair to say the kid has potential! biggrin

Look at any modern professional sport and these kinds of records are being broken all the time. From Darts to F1 this is happening.
Kids are now being coached at younger ages and are being pushed by their parents into sports at a young age because the money is so good.

Yes, so many 16 (17) year old darts players are pissing it.

And he's there again, into the final of Dutch round of the World Series.
Knocked out Humphries on the way.

Amazing how far pub darts can get you these days!

MVG takes revenge for last week, beats Littler 8-6.

Top standard in the final, Littler had his chances.

Littler has just won Players Championship 1, on his debut and hit a 9 darter in the process in an earlier round. He also missed double 12 for a second 9 darter. Beat Ryan Searle in the final and Searle had a 110+ plus average and 70% checkout rate! These are the bread and butter tournaments, 30 of them across the season with all 128 tour card holders able to play. To give an idea of the standard, there were 2 other 9 darters today. Another £15,000 in the bag and up to No 30 in the world. The guy is a freak of nature! See how he goes on tomorrow in Players Championship 2.

Yep, walked off half way through his game, complaining that the conditions were amateur. To be fair, Luke Humphreys got beat 6-0 and was constantly trying to warm his hands. Supposedly the venue is very cold.

Littler went out in round 2 today 6-5 to Radek Szaganski.

Gary Anderson beat Ryan Searle in the final. Anderson apparently missed the double 12 on 3 occasions for 9 darters.

Does anyone subscribe to PDC TV?

If littler wins the tournament, then the PDC will be under pressure for him to be in the premier league.
Being in the premier league would put a huge work load on him,
Media commitments Wednesdays,
Premier league Thursday nights
Travel and play on the Friday for the weekend tournaments.
Usually premier league players are top 16 so don’t need to play their first game until Saturday on the weekend tournaments.

There are alot of interviews with both former and current darts players on YouTube describing the mental and physical pressures of playing full time on the tour.
Not saying he can’t do it, but the PDC will have to try and protect him somehow.
Quick thread throwback as I was just pondering this.

How does he cope with the legal requirements around being in education? Is there some sort of dispensation for this type of scenario?

It would obviously be absurd to tell Littler and his parents that he has to give up the job earning him £££££ a year to concentrate on getting the qualifications to earn ££ a year, but presumably there also has to be some way of preventing abuse of the system?
