Well I try ed playing today - we had our Stone trip to Church Stretton, which is a lovely quirky little course about 10 miles south of Shrewsbury. Only problem, the lovely course is on top of one of the Shropshire Hills, and whatever we did today wasn't golf. 40 mph winds, driving rain and hail at one stage.
We made it to the 8th - the furthest point on the course from the clubhouse, and decided to call it a day. My Driver flew out my hand on the 6th and travelled 150 yards (straight) down the fairway, although somehow I still managed to make contact and with the wind behind and thanks to the terrain I was 15 yards short of the green
Shame as it was a lovely course, and it was dry as a bone, but when the ball won't even sit on the tee properly and you're struggling to stand up it's probably time to call it a day....

I played 9 holes on the trackman range yesterday, and having done indoor sim only in the past, I prefer the range as an experience. It's a brilliant range, excellent value to be able to play a virtual course, and hit balls and see the flight at the same time.
Anyone who has used toptracer, is there a similar game mode? I'm hoping/assuming yes.
Yes Toptracer has a similar thing, you can play 9 or 18 of various famous courses along with lots of other challenges (Driving, Approach etc). Haven't tried Trackman range yet but will be doing that in the new year. Anyone who has used toptracer, is there a similar game mode? I'm hoping/assuming yes.

Thank you, and well done for getting out, you mad bugger Played 9 yesterday in winds gusting up to 50mph with the odd spell of rain thrown by in for good measure.
It was hard to stand still at times so I was very happy with 5 pars and 4 bogies. I had a couple that lipped out too.
If I can strike the ball as well as I did yesterday in summer I will be very happy.
Played 18 today with the boy in windy, but not quite gale force winds, shot 81 with no doubles and a shocker with the putter, so I’m not too unhappy with tha
. The boy has just grown a couple of inches, so his Ping junior clubs are a bit short and light now. But he’s not quite into adults clubs yet. I’ve got him a Ping 410 driver that’s an inch shorter which he hits well and now getting over 200 yards regularly off the tee. He played ok but struggled a bit with the soft conditions. Especially from 50 yards and in.
I’ve got him a set of ladies Ping irons which should suit him until he’s into full adult clubs. And they were less than £90 7 to SW
I think it’s going to be difficult to keep him in the right clubs for a few years.

I went through the same with my son. He started of with a couple of sets of US Kids Golf clubs, which I subsequently donated to the Golf school. I think it’s going to be difficult to keep him in the right clubs for a few years.
Then a set of like new Ping Moxies (which were lovely clubs - apparently Ping more or less subsidised the sale of them to keep the price down). Which I bought for £60 secondhand with a bag, covers the lot. I later sold the just the clubs (bag destroyed, head covers scattered around the Essex countryside) which were absolutely battered, in an eBay auction for £120!
He then moved onto a McGregor full set of ladies clubs which were very good for the money (bar the putter - the head snapped off. Not his fault apparently). He now has a set of Cleveland Launchers, which are like a complete set of hybrids - which do exactly what it says on the tin!
When I got fitted for my clubs I hit a few of the Ping Ladies irons, they were lovely clubs but would have been out of my price range - and they were pink/lilac...
Had a pretty golf heavy week.
9 holes in glorious sun on Boxing Day, then 18 holes on Wednesday (dry but very windy), then 18 holes this morning, dry again but not quite as windy.
Driving the ball very well, and hit some lovely iron shots too. Greens are so quick and with that wind putting was very tough at times.
Good fun and nice to get out though!

Thorpe wood closed the front 9 as the river spilled over.. not that I was tempted anyway

Got plenty to fiddle with anyway, this year’s mission is obviously to pivot better. Haven’t unlocked the key to that yet,

Looks really good, great control of the clubhead all the way through the swing. You've had a great season haven't you? https://youtube.com/shorts/87WYZrtk74o?feature=sha...

Found this a lot fun, better access to the players than anything on the PGA Tour.

Still enjoying the Gary Martin channel vids, Inkersi rangefinder turned up, really compact, and feels good!

Yes thanks, best year overall I’ve had. Key for me was finally realising you HAVE to start down with the arms NOT the hips! Years of lessons and no one had ever told me that..Now.. up to about p5/6 I feel I’m most of the way there. After that is a different story, I really have to work hard to get my head going down through impact (stops the flip) and get a bit more rotation. I now have a garden and golf net and I think it’s going to take a lot of drilling.

I have to do Sergio/Rose drills to remind myself to get my hands and arms down first, takes a long time to change golf habits!Now.. up to about p5/6 I feel I’m most of the way there. The start with hips thing is a hangover from Hogan's 5 lessons, works for golfers who can easily disassociate there body from their hand path, Couples, very early Tiger et al, less so for many amateurs.
