Some seriously fast golfers on here, I'm happy with 155ish ball speed when really going for it, and probably closer to 150 when playing.
125 clubhead is mental fast!
Goal for me is play more, it will be lots of 9 hole games, and 18s when I can. 9 is much easier for me and my lad, as he is self employed, and can easily get out for 9.
Really happy with my swing at the moment, can't justify new clubs yet, despite being tempted with power bats now and again, I simply don't play enough to justify the expense.
Maybe new wedges in May

I’m joining in this year. Started going to the range about 18 months ago but finally started actually getting out on a course over Xmas. Played two rounds of 9 holes with my father before and after Xmas then did another 18 on my own the other day then 9 yesterday. The best 18 I went round in 110 but managed 50 on the last 9 I played. Driving ok of the tee but short game needs lots of work where it’s not been practiced at the range.
Goals for the year just to get an official handicap and have enough lessons to get some consistency. Feel like I have a big problem with my low point at the moment, keep digging huge divots every now and then. When I strike it cleanly seems to go ok otherwise.

Just had an early season result - dropped my putter off to be extended during my last lesson before the Xmas break, then got informed by coach at my lesson yesterday that it was ready and I just had to pop to the club to pick it up. After spending the journey there wondering why I didn't buy a boat, got there to find they'd managed to save the grip and refit it as part of the process, and they wuld like to charge me the grand total of £6 for the extension.
Ordered some more Titleist Player's gloves for the season then came home to try the "new" putter on my putting mat - very nice. My putting seems much more consistent now I can hold onto the putter properly

Hi all.
I'm new to this thread, but not to PH. I've been playing golf nearly 18 months and my HCP is currently 19.9. My goal for this year, like everyone is, is to get that lower.
My current set up:

Any other lefties in the group?

We do seem to be a rare breed
Anyone else in the North West around Cheshire?
I'm about an hour away from you down in Staffordshire, but have played in Cheshire quite a bit - usually the more corporate places like Carden Park, Mottram and Wychwood. Anyone else in the North West around Cheshire?
Where abouts are you based in golf terms?

It’s difficult to get card in at the moment. If I were you I would put one in every time you play if conditions allow. It gets more scores on your record and I find it helps me to keep trying if the wheels start to fall off.
Your ball striking is certainly good enough to get to 12 with a bit of consistency and good shot selection.
We definitely need a get together this year. I’m sure we can at least manage a couple of mini Cambridgeshire meets if nothing else.
Thank you. The main areas I need to focus are a) keeping driver out of trouble and b) short game. With regards to a), at one point driver was the best club in my bag, but as I've added distance and improved my irons it's now where I'm more likely to let myself down. What is the latest on your course, is the bunker work completed or is there now the other 9 to do?
2023 was an 'up and down' year for me. Whilst I felt I made some pretty decent improvements to my game, my handicap/scores didn't reflect it. Hopefully now the changes are more 'bed in' and feeling more natural I will see the results of these improvements. My handicap is currently 16.1, which after 3 years of playing is far from a disaster (but also not great), but I want to get it to 12 (or less) and it doesn't feel a million miles away, and have shot mid 80's on a number of occasions so its plausible.
I've been having lessons for the last month and my ball striking has massively improved, although a slight backswing change caused a significant issue I struggled to shake for a couple of weeks. I'm sticking with it though and have lessons booked through to the end of March.
The good thing is that I have a pretty decent swing path now meaning I only tend to draw a ball, so don't really worry any more about where the ball is going. I generally aim right or target and the worst shot is one which stays right generally (ie path & face matching). Its a much easier game when this thought is in your head. Doesn't quite work with driver, although getting there with that as that was the last lesson.
Overall, I'm heading into 2024 happier than I did 2023, and surely thats the battle, ie subtle improvements consistently. I wish I'd started this game when I was 20 though and not mid 40's.
