Hope it's all genuine, women do have a bit of history with cheating at marathons, just saying.

Was driven in a car for several miles:

Didn't bother running it, "seeing Ruiz burst out of a crowd of spectators on Commonwealth Avenue, half a mile from the finish"

Officially cleared recently, but awfully suspect:

How to say you know nothing about the Barkley Marathons, without saying you know nothing about the Barkley Marathons.

Yep hehe

For those with a little more faith in humanity, a slightly more extended clip of the finish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URNGiWWX4p8

As a bloke slowly getting back into a vague approximation of fitness and with utterly knackered knees, ankles and feet - I look upon such marvels as this effort with wonder and acute imagining’s of pain!

Staggering effort and I love the total and utter stupidity of ultra marathons in general and then the bonkers sts n giggles stuff on top to make em even harder.

This particular poster has issues with slight slopes in a car so the concept of genuine hills on foot has probably eluded him.

If you know what the button that Laz held out to her says, you know why she smiled smile

Think the last one I read about was a bloke hopping on a bus, just saying...

I heard about this news from an old school friend sharing it on social media, mountaineer Di Gilbert. Di was the first British female to lead an expedition up Everest almost 20yrs ago. If she's impressed then I am too.biggrin

It's a staggering achievement but once Jasmin Paris turned up at the Barkley two years ago it was only a matter of time in my opinion. Her record at this type of event speaks for itself.

The terrain in that part of the US is absolutely savage. There's a story of a prisoner who escaped from Frozen Head State Penitentiary (where the event is based) and was captured after 72 hours, wandering in the woods about 2 miles from the prison hehe

As for the comments about the potential for cheating. wobble

Amazing how far some people will push, I recently watched the film about the 64 year old women who swam from Cuba to Florida, 100 ish miles and 53 hours in the water, absolutely astounding achievement.

Women have a bit of history cheating do they, then what about the men. I will rephrase your comment as - some people have a problem with cheating.

Monster effort, seems like an epic race - pretty similar to the Revenant here in NZ, IIRC only 6 people have finished the Revenant in the 6 years its been running.
