What's happening on Saturday??

Seriously, I reckon I might go for a drive - the roads should be nice and quiet!

Yup I know a fair few people that aren't into football and it's a great time to go for a drive, go shopping etc. Same with Christmas day - excellent hooning capabilities!

I, however, am firmly in the "like football" camp, and as such, the BBQ/Beer/Football combination is welded into my Saturday.

I am going to be at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole.

Will be watching the game on a huge screen with free-flowing beer all paid for by the company!

After the game, I get to dress up for a fancy dinner and awards ceremony where Bobby Davro and Kenny Lynch are providing the entertainment! And Bobby is sitting on the table next to be for the dinner!!

I'll be watching it at my friends girlfriends house, with the rest of our sunday league football team and other random people. About 50 people are expected so I've heard.

I'm quite suprised how many people are taking the 'projector outside with bbq' approach. Wish we'd thought of that. In fact, now that I'm thinking on...

Watching at home on projector with Dolby amp set to "sounds like you are actually in the stadium" volume!

30 seconds after full time, jump in the VXT and drive 180 miles to west Scotland in preparation for a week's hooning in Ireland !

I hate football. Normally. (I come from Hartlepool originally - need I explain further!)

But ... we're having all the family round for the match, beer and BBQ, and the flags will be out, kit WILL be worn, and cheering will hopefully be loud and often!

The World Cup is a bit different, and I don't mind getting into the spirit. My little lad is just 6, same age as I was in '66. What more reason do I need to make an occasion of it?

Come on England!

Well, I'm going slightly overboard for this one;

We have about 30 people coming to my house, where we've set up a huge projector screen under a big gazeebo covered in black plastic (so you can see), with a huge sound system either side of the gazeebo pointing outwards for the commentary.

Said screen is going to be accompanied by 2 big bbq's. Oh, and we've got a couple of flags (I'll take pics Saturday!).

So, watching the game outside in 22c sun, with bbq, oh - and a Fridge outside for cold beers.

Oh and my bro's bringing a couple of stand up arcade units.

Oh and his go-peds.

Oh and 8-player Buzz for drunk playing in the evening on the big screen
I see a potential flaw in this plan

Getting up at 6am and going around to the flat of the only other English people we know within 50 miles of us for the 8am kickoff. Have had a 'chavtastic' flag shipped out from the Motherland especially to fly high from their balcony with the telly on loud and a few bottles of Fullers and Old Peculier which we went on a 70 mile round trip to buy especially last weekend. Said flag is also being strapped onto the boot lid of the car (large boot), for the duration of the competition or at least as long as England are still in it....

Glad at least one game is on a Saturday, as my Yankee bosses won't give me time off to watch the midweek games . And no-one in the office wanted to do a sweepstake. Hope the US go out in the first round.

I will kick off with the family in the lounge on the big Plasma, after the first couple of scares I shall migrate to the back room on my own with the 16" telly ... then the bedroom with the small VHS Combo .... then into the XC90 for a drive listening to 909 or 1089 .... if we get a result I come home .... if not .......... I am an absolute t*t of a fan .... bag of nerves ... an utter disgrace and lousy to be around .... During the Europeans I blasted the harley out on empty roads pulling up at the pubs just to see if I could hear cheering. This time I will do better but if you hear the rumble of 80bhp outside and 15 minutes to go ....

Fear not, we've thought of that. Also in the gazeebo area there will be 4 big fans preventing it turning into a pile of black goo, and also protecting my bosses rather expensive projector!

And today at 2pm my bro and my dad (I'm in the office today) will be doing a 'test run' by setting it all up at the same time as tomorrow's match to understand sun direction, and temperature affects on our set up!!!

We leave nothing to chance (did a little test run last night but because sun was going down you couldn't tell if it would be ok come 2pm).

Fear not guys, my retribution is coming; for the Trinidad game I am in Budapest all week (on business) and coming home DURING the game. I take off when it starts and land when it finishes (DOH!!!)

Would you like me to call the airport and report a 'unaccompanied bag'?

Should see you delayed for 3 hours at least and you can watch it in the boozer at the airport...

Plan?
