They've just scraped through against 2 countries whose populations are so small, they have to club together to be able to form a footy team!

Worrying, at best.

Its something that Sweden didn't manage however. Yes England were poor for most of the match; but it is always difficult when facing a team who just want to defend to secure a 0-0 draw.

I don't think england were poor - if you consider Crouch missed a couple of good chances, and Lampard could have scored, it could easily have been a rout. at the other end, T&T looked threatening maybe once, but were never going to score, even when they hit the net he was a mile offside.

Not inspiring but sturdy, and the result is all that counts. We'll play Germany or Ecuador and I wouldn't bet against us, only team that looks scary at the moment is Spain.

Edit to say, the US commentators on ESPN apart from knowing nothing about football, were crowing about how poor England were and how disappointing they were all second half until the 83rd minute.

We've got 6 points, you've got none - stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Uncle Sam!

Those commentators were tuned in if you ask me. They were saying what you didn't want to hear and refused to believe. England were diabolical this evening. Having 6 points because of an own goal and a 2-0 win over a utterly useless team is not something to shout about.

Spain, Brazil, Argentina, France and Germany have tonight crossed England off the list of serious contenders. Over 20 shots on goal or there abouts and maybe 5 on target, that's poor in everyones book.

Appears a lot of our players have found a large barn door at the training camp and have been practicing with that.

Think we were dire today. Too predictable and no real spark in midfield. That didnt come until Lennon came on who did exactly what was needed - someone to run at the T&T players and cause a bit of havoc rather than trying to lob it over them as that was never going to work as they were sitting too deep

is it me or is crouch shite?

I think so.

But having said that I always thought Heske was a complete and utter donkey yet everyone else raved about him.

Ash Cole should have been shot for running away from the T&T guy for about 30 yards- kin ell Ash, are you gonna stick it in the back of the net for them too?

I hated Heskey too, big pudding... He was great nat club level but lost his bottle internationally

I didn't think Cole had too bad a game apart from the "RUN AWAY!!!" incident...

I agree. Lennon, and not that Rooney chap, was the turning point for England. Up until Lennon came on, Engalnd were pretty dire, and looked nothing like world cup winners. Let hope Lennon is in teh starting lineup for the next game

And of course their boys did sooooo well against the Czechs.

Heh, which considering the principle world cup sponsors also lost a court case over the rights to their name to the czechs makes it doubly lubbly jubbly.

Budweiser-Budvar tastes better too.

I think yes england didn't have a good game. But, virtually 90% of the game was in TnT's half... TnT were never ever gonna score and as many have already said, no matter how crap the opposition, when they've got 10 players behind the ball all the time, its bloody hard to score!

The key for england is to mix it up.... pace, crosses, wing backs pushing up, 25 yard shots from gerrard and lampard.

If that all happens then IMHO England will be fairly unstoppable... Sven just has to get his act together

VTEC - they may have dominated T & T but they made extremely heavy weather of it. The only good point about the match is that they won't have expended too much in the way of energy and should be in good shape for the next few matches.

I admit, things definitely picked up with the substitutions.

Spain and Argentina maybe, but based on current performance Brazil and Germany aren't in a position to cross anyone off any list. Germany could yet fail to win their group, and Brazil have turned in a decidedly lacklustre performance. Why aren't you crossing Brazil off the list based on that?

On the basis of perfromances so far, I would be more wary of Equador than Germany. They are currently playing more like Brazil than Brazil are. England could very well encounter this lot in the next round.

True about Brazil, I'll hold off until seeing their second game though. I should have added Germany as an outsider and not a lead contender.

After seeing the 6-0- rout by Argentina I don't think there is much doubt who will be taking home the trophy.

Really? I quite like them. Much better than ITV's coverage, which is abysmal.
