Does anybody know what the result of the Italian ruling about the domestic clubs has been (or what time they will be) ?

Ah thanks.

I thought they'd all been found guilty but were simply awaiting the sentence - I ddn't realise the guilt was still in doubt?

There's going to be alot of good players up for sale overnight if it happens!

Perhaps now that they've won, the clubs will be found not guilty.

The Italian President has asked that all the successful players be offered immunity from prosecution.

So, if you cheat but win, you're immune from punishment!

So far only Juve have admitted guilt. Last week their solicitor said his client was happy to accept regelgation to Serie B to which the judge replied that he was not in a position to barter and that he, and he alone, would decide their punishment :handbag:

So far the judge has threatened to relegate Juve to Serie C and the others to Serie B.

Trying to relegate them could cause problems with FIFA. They have already suspended the Greek's because of "government" interference. If The Italian FA do it then FIFA would probably accept it, but not imposed by a government.

Last I heard (Sky news last night) was that the penalties could be watered down due to the WC win.

I expect Juve will go to Serie B and the others will have minor point deductions...

Anyone know anything yet or has the presiding judge been given a back hander to drag it out for a few years until everyone forgets about it?

Interesting - it said AC Milan will remain in Series A but with 10-15 point docked. If this is true - wonder if Silvio Berlusconi (dodgy guy) have his say in it to prevent it relgated as he own the club.

Serie A sides Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been demoted to the second division for their involvement in Italy's match-fixing scandal.

AC Milan will stay in Serie A but will lose 15 points and will be kicked out of the Champions League.

Juventus were also stripped of their last two titles and had 30 points deducted meaning that they are almost certain to stay down for two seasons.

Lazio were penalised seven points while Fiorentina suffered a 12 point penalty.
