I would take Bramble out of the defence totally and play Babayaro, Moore, Taylor & Carr from left to right across the back, N'Zogbia, Duff, Parker & Solano from left to right across the middle and Martins and Rossi up front.

No place for Bernard then? I actually used to rate him and was sorry to see him go. I wonder if he's the player he was though?

When we got rid of him there was no reason to dump him for his playing - it was because he wanted too much money. He should be more solid than Babayaro. He has been to blame a few times. Meanwhile across the rest of defence, I hope Ramage gets a good run in the team. When he filled in for Carr last season he was more than capable. Only problem is our most reliable centre backs at the moment are Taylor and Ramage, who are two young to use as a partnership. In the meanwhile, Moore should be solid, but some reason isn't.

meanwhile I do feel a wee bit sorry for ameobi. fair enough he's no top striker but he was actually having the form of his career after coming out of shearer's/owens/bellamy's/kluivert's shadows.

fingers crossed Dyer's mysterious illness will finally be gone in a few weeks and he'll turn the magpies into a Kevin Keegan style win by scoring more than you let in type team.

I wouldn't have Dyer or Bernard in the team, Dyer is utterly useless and in my book bottom of all the hundreds of midfielders we have. Bernard wasn't all that clever when he was at the Toon, and got too big for his boots.

Dyer's useless? If he's not injured? You've got to be joking! The last time he was in a toon shirt, he completely transformed the team making them look far better going forwards. We've got a load of midfielders who are great at holding the ball and passing it around, but just don't have the cutting edge.

In the Villa game, they looked neat and tidy and had the majority of the ball. In my mind, Dyer would have made the world of difference.

Not getting mixed up at all, I honestly think Dyer is a useless whining waste of space.

Whadayamean Peter noCrouch is crap?

He's good at confusing people with his comic windmill antics whilst he passes the ball (badly). And he's rubbish at scoring (despite the rediculous statistics).

But apart from that...what did the Romans do for us?

Maybe Viz should have an 'anti football' hero. The impossiblbly lanky ttty man.

Or somesuch.

I thought that until he went to Spurs. He's scored a few, his ratings have been good, I think he may be a changed man.

I've always considered Dyer to be the most over-rated player to pull on an England shirt in recent years. He does occassionally show flashes, but his inconsistancy.....

At least he doesn't get in so much trouble off the field now.....

I'm not going to flame anyone - everyone is entitled to their opinion, and you've heard mine.
However, if he manages to get over his injury woes then we'll finally get an opportunity for you/Stacey to prove me wrong!

Dyer is a good player on his day, and even when he's not having the best of days can worry a defence (assuming he still has his pace). But who should be dropped for him if he was to play again? Duff, Solano and NZogbia are all great on the wings and should be 1st choices there. Parker we need to control things in the middle. Only really leaves Emre to make way. But then there is the likes of Milner and Pattison who are young but have shown some great potential. Maybe prefer to have one of them playing. (oh yeah - and sibierski....)

With the signings that have been made, I can see Chelsea being in the lead at Christmas. Not convinced Man Utd have done the right thing during the transfer window, so its hard to predict between them and Arsenal. Liverpool will be closer than last season too.

If it were my choice, Solano would probably make way, depending on the opposition.
I've always liked Nobby, but he seems to be making less of an impact recently and certainly isn't particularly quick.
With Dyer and Martins in the side, it'd certainly give opposing defences something to think about!

The window`s open again, so I`ve dug this one up.
Bayern Munich want Man Utd to cough up £20M for Hargreaves. Any thoughts united fans?

Yeah, a tad steep. *BUT* England`s best player in the world cup, after Sven finally played him in position!

That's a bit unfair. Hes probably worth at least 10M, but 20M sounds a bit steep.

"The Sun reports that Chelsea are considering a move for Jermain Defoe who then could come up with an offer of cash plus Wright-Phillips. Martin Jol has insisted on many occasions that Defoe is not for sale, but Chelsea are keen to test his resolve."

The theory being that we can shunt Aaron over to the left... rolleyes

Can't see it and I'd rather hang onto Defoe. And why would he want to risk the Chelsea rotation system instead of ours?

But in the previous world cup Butt was one of the better England players.
