Hi All. Off to Val Thorens on the 30th Dec for a week. Hoping its going to dump between now and then. Fingers crossed it will. Anybody been out there before? Any top tips on places to visit etc?

I was there last season. Get over the the 4th valley in the morning. You'll have the place almost to yourself.

Hi all.

Slightly late I know. But got back from Meribel on the 22nd. The snow was suprisingly good considering the poor snowfall's so far this season. The snow cannons and the piste bashers had made the bottom areas very skiiable, only complaints could be that it was a little icy at the bottom. The higher areas were great and it snowed twice while I was there. It was also a bonus that due to being the first week of the season all the hired eqiptment was brand new, result!

Hope you all have had / will have a great time.

No probs at all.

I'll be glad if it gives others some more confidence about booking / going as I was very worried about what it was going to be like before I set off.

Like I say it was pretty good, only one run we wanted to go on wasnt open, to be fair though it was quite anoying as it was the longest black run in the resort. Also if we had skiied into Val Thorens then it would have been tricky getting back to Meribel so we skiied to Corchevel (sp?) instead to make use of the 3 valley pass.

Hope everyone has had a good time and good snow over Chirstmas

A few pics from my hol. Excuse the quality - they are from my phone!

Scenary shots from the top:

Abit of off-piste

And finally, a wierd cloud formation

Missing it now!

What mobile phone have you got. They pics are very good for a mobile. Looks good, but then how can a mountain with snow not look good. Was it as quiet as it seems in the pics or did you chose the snap with hardly anyone in the picture???

Getting worried about this lack of snow... has anyone been to La Plagne during a poor snow year for an idea of how it fares?

Thanks

They were taken on a Nokia N70 (2mp camera) I now have a N73 now though (3.2mp camera) and its much better.

Yeah it was very quiet, it was the 1st week of the season and the resort was only about 1/2 full apparently. We went on a night out with some of the reps and chalet hosts and half of them didn't even have anyone staying in their designated chalets.

The scenery was amazing though.
