What a dumb move.

As an American who tried to support Major League Soccer, its pointless.

No one cares here about soccer. I don't think we sold out any of the World Cup games when we hosted it a few years ago.

Glad I'm not writing the check...

That apparently puts him significantly ahead of ALL the other major legue sportspeope (cross sport, basketball, baseball etc).

Also comes in at twice what the rest of the US MLS players earn together...

I know its been widely reported but either someones smoking crack or theres a decimal place gone missing...

$250m, how long a timeframe is that over?

Top Baseball earner in 2006 was A-Rod at $21.6m

It's not her weight that's the problem, it's that she's got a face like a dropped pie made out of bulldogs licking piss off nettles and cooked using a welders bench.

Ah, I see...that explains it! You do realise that $250M is a QUARTER OF A (pretend American) BILLION DOLLARS...??? I'd move to LA for that...Christ, I'd move to Sleaford for that!

By the way, you're writing on a British based website, so we would appreciate the use of the Queen's English please. So that's,

'writing that CHEQUE'.

Much obliged hehe

$250 million USD!!! Bloody hell. Not bad for a one trick kicker, a stupid tattoo on his neck, and a platinum hair rinse.

Obviously you haven't watched him play much then.

Yup, and he's shit.

He's a brand. Not a footballer.

I'm not really a footbll fan but from what I see he does play a good game of football. Should he turn down ridiculously lucrative contracts so he looks 'hard' (I just lolled so much at the thought of a football player looking hard I nearly done a wee).

What's the name of the one who became a tough guy actor - well, not much of an actor, but took his tough guy football player persona from pitch to screen. I can see his pock-marked face can't remember his name. Sheesh.

Michal Owen...
