England vs Scotland - predictions
Discussion
Bit of a funny thing happened in work today
There is this giant guy working with us at the moment in Cardiff, he must be 6'5"+, 20 stone+ and solid muscle but he never speaks so I thought I would break the ice. I asked him his predictions for this weekends games but before he could get an word out I jumped in and said "we'll smash those bleedin paddys all over the pitch" to which he replied "oh'reilly" in the thickest Orish accent I have ever heard. should have read his photo Id before i said anything, his name is Kieran O'something!!!!!!!

Scotland simply don't have a 'winner' mentality that I hate say England have.
Steady on, old chap. He's right. You never see the dedication to the cause from the Scots.
They have the ability but they don't apply it (to paraphrase my school reports actually )
Compare the scrums - England will always outclass Scotland there. Forwards are always the key (ok I might be biased having a dad who played 1 for Wasps but it's true - possession is EVERYTHING. And that's something only the pack can give you.
Anyone in Edinburgh tomorrow afternoon looking for a screen, pop down to Leith - the Cameo bar is showing it and is where I'll be (probabyl in a BaaBaas shirt actually as I think both my England shirt and cop-out England/Scotland quadrant with thistle and rose one are in storage while I sort out my new home)
God it's good to be back! Don't want to get too excited but it felt like old times again. It has been a long 3 years hope that the good form continues.
JW was simply amazing. Played like he hasn't been away. Not only did his fantastic kicking score points but it creates so much more attacking options for England. When the opposition know they cannot kill the ball in their own half it makes such a big difference to our attacks.
Tindell, Ellis, Corry and Robinson all played very well as well. Glad to hear Robinson wouldn't have picked JW! Can't say I miss his grumpy face-and the players look like they were enjoying it (I guess winning helps!)

Spot on... I just have huge reservations about one man being so pivotal.
First half was rubbish from both sides. Scotland's try energised everyone and the second half was enjoyable to watch. Disappointing entry into the 6 Nations though, even tho we won
Joe Worsely was man of the match, closely followed by Tindall, Wilko, Ellis and Vickery.
Great to see England playing with confidence. The biggest part was the ball retention which comes from selecting a 7 in the erm, 7 shirt (Andy Robinson take note).
To be fair, apart from the odd good kick from Parks, Scotland were terrible and offered nothing. England now have a fairly settled team and with Italy up next another good win can only breed more confidence and we can get on a rool for the big away games in Dublin and Cardiff.
This is an England team that can develop into a serious outfit given some time and get back into the top 5 in World Rugby.
Long way to go but the signs are good.

I reckon Scotland will win, the English are still rebuilding. They used to be world champions but not anymore, they may still hold the Webb-Ellis trophy but they are not a championship winning side. Why can't the fans face it, that they are not that good anymore.
Scotland are more of a tight unit, we have our injuries but they aren't so serious.
I reckon Wilkinson will be the weak link in the backs for England, either that or he will be taken off at half time.
I am quite enjoying the analysis of the forth coming Calcutta Cup match, considering England aren't as strong as they can be and Scotland are still on a high from the wins we had last year, but if we play like we did against AUS, then we will have a massive problem, but it'd be nice to put 1 over the English at home!
PS I go to uni in England, I am driving home tonight to get out of England before tomorrow!

Ha Ha Ha, good call mate. Slice of humble pie?
No, I am not really fussed, its time the English had it back they would feel lonely without it. Afterall we had it for the whole of last year.
Beating the English at Twickenham is almost an impossibility, I can't wait till next year! Hopefully we will be even stronger than last year!
PS Pride comes before a fall! Watch out for Italy, England!

You do post some ill informed rubbish.
The main problem with Scottish Rugby is they think success is winning the Calcutta Cup once a decade.

We have won it twice in the past 6 years, 2000 and 2006. In the 80s we won it in consecutive years, 83 and 84.
Why ill informed rubbish? I keep my eye on Scotland all the time, maybe ill informed about England but so what they aren't the 1 of the teams I support.

That's my point. You think winning the Calcutta Cup 5 times in 27 years is some sort of achievement.
Why ill informed rubbish? Where to begin? In the last week you have informed us that JW will be the weakest link on Saturday, England were not the best team in RWC2003, beating England at Twickenham is almost immpossible despite the fact we lost 4 of our last 5 matches there before Saturday and now the Italians are going to do a job on us this Saturday.
Have you actually watched a game of rugby before? You do know it is played with an oval ball are you sure you're not confusing it with football?
I don't watch football, only rugby and motor racing.
Well, considering Jonny Wilkinson's first club match was the weekend before after a long lay off through injury, I thought he would be the weekest link, I have been proved wrong. Even Brian Ashton isn't taking any chances with the Italians because they will be up for a fight to prove the critics wrong about the wooden spoon.
I am not fussed about this weekend's rugby match Scotland vs Wales because I am half and half, I will be happy when either of them win, a draw would be perfect, like a few years ago.
